Fox, hen house, etc.
āI donāt know yet, but if I find out ā¦"
Give me a f*cking break. Talk about vague and noncommittal.
āNow either theyāre lying or there is a serious problem within the bureau,ā Leahy said. āDid anybody in the FBI during this 2016 campaign have contact with Rudy Giuliani about the Clinton investigation?ā
āI donāt know yet, but if I find out that people were leaking information about our investigations whether to reporters or private parties, there will be severe consequences,ā Comey replied.
He said he was āvery, very interestedā in getting to the bottom of the issue, and that he would inform the committee once the FBI did so.
These quotes do not support the headline Comey Looking At Whether FBI Agents Leaked Info To Giuliani During Campaign. His answer is a brush-off. He puts on a serious face and says heās āvery, very interestedā in getting to the bottom of the issue, but he doesnāt confirm thereās an investigation. Why should we believe there is one?
Not sure I agree. Re-reading, āI donāt know yet,ā kinds of jumps out. And seems to imply, at the very least, that theyāre looking into it. I donāt have a problem with the headline at all.
The New York FBI office is pretty much infiltrated by Russian intelligence and compromised. They were leaking information to Donald Trump, Cuck Kushner and Rudy Giuliani on a regular basis. Follow the Trump campaign money that did not go to Trump Organization and Trump Foundation coffers.
I agree with the original poster. An unwarranted conclusion is drawn. āSeeming to implyā¦ā just isnāt strong enough. It would have been better to just go with a fact:
āComey Says He is āVery, Very Interestedā in Whether FBI Leaked to Guilianiā
Looking back at my corporate days, Iād say that āI donāt know yetā really means āOh, sh*t, I was hoping you guys had forgotten that, and when I get back to the office Iām going to have to tell someone to start working on that because it doesnāt look like youāre going to forget in the next six months either.ā
Iām not particularly a fan of Comeyās, but I think most of the things an FBI Director would say in this kind of setting would be noncommital at best. I donāt know that he can really go into much detail on any of this stuff.
Never gets old
Ha - I think that also sounds like a reasonable interpretation of those remarks.
Iām still looking for the Easter Bunny. Odds are Iāll be more successful in my quest than Mr. Comey.
Be careful there Comeyā¦we donāt want you āreleasingā any information on ongoing investigationsā¦unless of course, it has to do with the Clintons.
No one asked if there was an investigation.
Comey is a lawyer. One thing lawyers know is ānever answer a question that hasnāt been askedā. Sometimes expressed as ānever volunteer informationā.
Iām convinced, based on my gut, that watching Comey in the flesh after about an hour, is that he is one slick partisan hack. Iāve watched his slippery responses on both Hillary Clinton and the Trump/Russia investigations and there is no doubt he does not play it down the middle. He has two different sets of standards, both with their own set of cleverly lawyered rationale. Thatās what Iām getting from his appearance so far. Repukes should be very happy with this guyā¦Thatās why Iām so surprised Grassley almost blew a nut when he asked him a question awhile ago.
I also have no faith that he is putting the pedal to the metal on this Russia investigation, and how much damage its done to our democracyā¦and based on that, Iām extremely leery that he is putting in his full effort into uncovering the depths of this collusion within our government. He also is one self-righteous and haughty son of a bitch. The man comes off as a loyal Republican first and an judicious FBI chief second.
The only thing he seems to be protecting is himself and the agency, not the investigation as far, as I can tell. He owes it to the public to be forthwith about this Russian investigation after all this time. His continued secrecy on basic facts already known is really odd to me. There should be a lot more information that he is willing to say at this point. The fact that he isnāt providing much, just tells me heās in CYA modeā¦His defensive posture is his tell.
I agree with you but by now, he should know. The Daily Beast had an article before the presidential election on this problem at the NYC FBI Office. I believe a senior agent resigned prior to the election because he felt that Comeyās refusal to recommend criminal prosecution of HRC was a political decision, while the whole use of the FBI NYC office to create the Anthony Weiner laptop red herring ten days before the election was a politically motivated hit job from that very NYC office. So, if Comey still has no idea and is still looking into this and would really like to know, etc. I would say bullshit.
He wasnāt noncommittal on the āEMAILSā! In fact, he practically wagged his finger at Hillary over it. He offered his opinion when he should have just presented the facts.
āI donāt know yet, but if I find out that people were leaking information about our investigations whether to reporters or private parties, there will be severe consequences,ā
Well itās pretty clear that they did leak information to Giuliani and there were severe consequences; to us, not the leakers.
Time for Mr Comey to resign. He has lost the trust of more than half the nation
