This all sounds swell, Jimmy. Praiseworthy even. But what about the empty, against agency policy pronouncements concerning Clinton’s emails when there was no there there and at the same time you were sitting on truly important information about Trump?
Mr. Comey, actions speak louder than words.
Yes, and the announcement about the emails on Weiner’s computer was particularly egregious since within a week or so they were found to be duplicates, as could easily have been predicted, since every email is on both the sender’s and the recipient’s computer. There was simply no need to have announced that BEFORE the emails were examined.
I’m waiting for the IG report on that one:)
Comey: “What makes it easy: we’re not on anybody’s side, ever. We’re not considering whose ox will be gored by this action or that action, whose fortunes will be helped by this or that.”
If it’s all been so “easy” as you say, why then did you feel the need to break protocol not once but twice in the final 4 months of last year’s campaign, both of which negatively affected just ONE candidate?
First came your public announcement about HRC’s email server, inserting your personal opinion that it was “careless” despite not finding any compromised classified info, and then the bombshell about re-opening the investigation just days before the actual election?
And all the while you didn’t say a peep about PeePee’s Russian-Putin-Mob ties…
This. I actually defended Comey’s obnoxious press conference in July as something he thought he was forced to because of the Bill tarmac blunder (WTF was he thinking) but the series of actions the Weiner laptop was just atrocious and simply exposed Comey as a self righteous prick with ridiculously poor judgment.
And to find out he was doing all this while sitting on actual investigations and fears of Russian collusion on the Trump side is the icing on the cake.
The Weiner email episode was nothing if not an attempt to influence the election and it worked. Comey will go down in history for that betrayal of his oath.
A splendid example of the difference between theory and practice.
Within 24 hours of his announcement of Weiner’s laptop having those emails, the Washington Post came out with a story quoting an FBI insider who said there was nothing new in those emails. I posted a link to it at the time.
Sadly there are many Teahadi careerists in Federal service. I even know a few “abolish the IRS” types in that agency
Maybe you should care.
Methinks he doth protest too much.
His words are betrayed by his actions. Actions speak louder than words and his actions clearly indicate he is partisan!
I think the only way for Comey’s plan to really work is to have Trump and his minions in the White House. This allows there to be wider media exposure and a large enough net to catch a number of Republicans as well. Hillary was the sacrificial lamb in all of this.
And I work with several.
Too little and too late, J. Edgar Asshole!
It’s hard to read Comey’s statements without recalling his dialog with Sen. Angus King at a hearing on Jan 10:
FBI director: “We never confirm or deny a pending investigation.”
Senator: “The irony of your making that statement here, I cannot avoid.”
Watching Comey utter these platitudes after we’ve lived through the contrary is nothing short of stomach churning.
That will never be made public.
He seems like a halfway intelligent person, so I can’t figure out why he did things to make Hillary look bad before the election and probably help Trump win if he knew Donald was even more corrupt?
edit: Maybe he knew it was the best way to get Donald investigated, as president vs just a citizen. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me. Even though it doesn’t make sense to me that a US citizen working with Ressians ought to be just as big a concern in my tiny mind.
