Discussion: Comey Forcefully Defends Sending Letter On Clinton Emails Before Election

“There’s an election days away—Lordy, that would be really bad. Concealing in my view would be catastrophic, not just to the FBI but well beyond. And honestly’ as between really bad and catastrophic, I said to my team we’ve got to walk into the world of really bad.”

Well congratulations and thanks for making us all walk right into it over exactly nothing. But, just a followup. Where was ‘really bad’ regarding Russian connections to Trump? That wasn’t ‘really bad’? Can we get a definition of ‘really bad’? Did you stare at that for a while to talk yourself out of reporting on Trump?

What internal discussions did Comey have about ‘speak’ or ‘conceal’ re the Trump investigation? Why was his decision different?

Truly a fucking idiot. So he would throw the election again in order to announce what turned out to literally be nothing.

Partisan fucking moron.

You beat me to it.

It makes Comey “mildly nauseous” to think he was instrumental in electing DT, yet after seeing the effects up close and personal for 100 days he would make that same decision again.

Perfect.

The FBI has its partisans, even if Comey isn’t. It was these elements that dredged up and convinced him to spread the bullshit.

And keep this in mind: these same partisans are involved in the Trump/Russia investigation and will do whatever they can to quash it. It may have happened already.

…and he did the ‘right’ thing…

“Anybody who disagrees with me with me has to come back to Oct. 28 with me and stare at this and tell me what you would do. Would you speak or would you conceal?”

Only a few days later you announced there was nothing there! There was nothing to “conceal”!

You are assuming, without evidence, that Comey thinks the past 100 days have been bad.

I see no indication the quality of judgement is in any way functional.

What he could/should have done, if anything at all, was release news of the investigations into BOTH candidates. What a fucking moron. How did your crappy judgment ever get you to the head of the FBI? Peter Principle?

Speak or conceal? You were asking yourself the wrong question you ridiculous stooge. The question, and the choice was, speak, or follow longstanding policy of not commenting on an investigation, particularly in the run up to an election where speaking is guaranteed to impact that election. This looks like an easy choice unless you are either a complete idiot or a partisan hack. Or both.

An extremely nauseous idiot.

They are still going after Huma Abedin as a felon and are still obsessed with her e-mails.

and he lied about the warrant.

catastrophic to the Kremlin

and Weiner is trending so lets talk about about another Democrat pervert. Oh great.

It’s only bad for him if Trump fires him. So far, so good.

J. Edgar Hoover would be so proud!

But he said that even in hindsight, he would make that same decision again.

Of course he would; by doing so, he achieved his objective.

scratching head …

Trump = Conceal
Clinton = Speak

No problem with that logic, in fact this is exactly what he’s been saying for months. In Trump’s case, the FBI chose door number Conceal and played it by the book. In Clinton’s case, they threw the playbook out totally.

So Comey decided to change the longstanding policy of not commenting on investigations, plus the longstanding policy of not commenting on investigations within days of an election, only in the last days before the election when it was Clinton’s emails that were involved. He didn’t change the policy earlier when they were investigating Trump, he very selectively decided to go against all previous policy only at that last minute and only when it would hand the election to Trump, which he obviously knew it might well do.

Quite the upstanding guy, this Comey fellow.

So he thought it was REALLY important to release that information, and yet totally OKAY to hide the fact that Trump and friends had been under investigation since July. Surely one Dem will bring that small discrepancy up?!

Christopher Steele is reporter to have said that the only reason he went to the press is because he thought the FBI was obstructing the investigation:

Former MI6 agent Christopher Steele’s frustration as FBI sat on Donald Trump Russia file for months
January 13, 2017

However, say security sources, Mr Steele became increasingly frustrated that the FBI was failing to take action on the intelligence from others as well as him. He came to believe there was a cover-up, that a cabal within the Bureau blocked a thorough inquiry into Mr Trump, focusing instead on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

And we just witnessed the exact same thing happen. The R’s and Comey are obsessed with Weiner laptop and Clinton’s e-mails even now. This is completely unacceptable.
