Professional Law enforcement agency takes action in conjunction with training in such situations
People have tried this before and they had a plan in place to deal with it
These people are as serious as a heart attack and perceived a threat
They weren’t wrong
They did what any professional organization would do to protect their data

“I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion,” McCabe said. “That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace.”

The FBI quickly figured out what kind of monster they were dealing with and took appropriate steps. I like to see that in a bureau that’s in charge of investigations nationally.

Wild-ass spy novel shit. Too silly for Tom Clancy. Here we are, welcome to 2019!

When we dig ourselves out of the current shithole, it will be fascinating to learn what they did & who was involved.

McCabe said. “That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace.”

I hope this means, a la the Pentagon Papers, that the FBI had robo e-mails set-up to send Drop Box files to the NYT, the WaPo, the Guardian and the Globe and Mail among others containing all the pertinent information.

On a tangent:

I don’t see this as binary. McCabe defended his agency in various ways, one of which was unofficially authorizing a teammate to leak factual information that debunked accusations of FBI misconduct driven by political bias. The DoJ Inspector General investigated and concluded that McCabe lied to investigators about that leak, violating specific regulations. Meanwhile, Trump pressured Sessions to shut McCabe up and replace him with a loyalist who would shut down the investigations. Sessions used the IG’s report as grounds to fire him.

If the firing was both politically motivated and based on a true violation, does McCabe stand a chance of getting relief through a civil suit? Or is he just blowing off steam, expressing his feeling of being justified, and pushing to get a settlement so he’ll go away?

You need to explain this.

Keep your friends close.

Keep your enemies closer.

I don’t think they’ll be publishing that.

"whether he might be, wittingly or not, in league with the Russians.’

from the archives: SIBERIA {AP} Comrade Stalin may or may not be aware that the imperialist jackals of capitalistic brainwashing are detained in work camps. These work camps employ many who would otherwise be idle. Those who dwell in Siberia are saving much money for they do not have to purchase frivolous items like sandals, sun hats, and food.

So Trump is slowly bleeding out, because he fired the only man who could have slowed shit down.

I agree! But where is Daniel Ellsberg now that we really need him?

Thanks…

My recollection of discussion at the time was that firing was not typical or proportional for the violation coupled with Trump’s pressure on Session to fire him would suggest he has a valid argument.

Particularly fired on his last day and thus lost his pension.

Trump’s apparent desire to punish him might play a role. However I’m not a lawyer.

We really don’t want any POTUS reaching down and making hiring and firing decisions in any agency.

A second person familiar… also said the FBI discussed preserving evidence so that it would outlast any firing or effort to stymie the investigation.

It should be pretty clear to everyone that Chiselin’ Trump was much less likely to Stymie the investigation…

… than he was to Chubby it.

donnie and his cabal … vs … the FBI

is like my high school arts club playing FB against the Packers —

Policies do not exist in a vacuum. As acting FBI Director, McCabe would have had some jurisdiction over those policies and would have been responsible for balancing those policies with the continuity of their statutory mission. If those policies conflict with the statutory mandate, the policies lose. The IG simply noted the violation of policy. The piece that damns him is that he lied about leaking to press. If he didn’t lie, he would have a case. Unfortunately he likely had to lie to protect the point of his action and that is what they will hang their hat on. The IG here should be investigated to ensure that they weren’t corrupted as they are intended to be politically independent of their agency.

It does seem that was an immediate response. If the media knows, then congress knows. My guess is that Mueller and the SDNY moved fairly quickly to sealed filings and indictments in the judiciary or evidence in the grand jury.
