Actually, Oliver did have one person on his show for an interview (though he had to travel to Moscow to do it): Edward Snowden.
I think he’s the only one.

He has one other interview similar to the Snowden one (Stephen Hawking) and he had one in-studio interview very early on (2nd episode of the first season I believe) and that’s it.
It’s simply not a normal part of the show, which makes Trump look silly.

Trump only wants to go where he’s not wanted…typical trait of all reality show celebrities.
He had on a translator who was having trouble getting to the United States after helping our troops in Afghanistan (Iraq?).

Honestly I’ve never seen any reason to think he’s more than about high-normal, and not the top end of high-normal either. He’s not stupid, but he’s certainly not exceptionally intelligent by any indication I can think of. Hillary could eat four Quaaludes and drink a quart of booze and still run rings around him.

The GOP doesn’t care IF they lie or if you know it. They win because the media collectively shrugs their shoulders. The ‘meme’ will go down that Oliver is just capitalizing on The Donald for even mentioning Trump’s name…and that will be ‘news’ for a few cycles.

He surely isn’t Palinesque stupid, but now I think he is indeed stupid in his own way – Oliver nailed it when he said Trump is an open book without many interesting words in it.
