It’s about time.
I thought Larry himself was pretty funny in the opening monologues. But didn’t think the roundtables worked, as comedy or discussion.
Larry Wilmore is a genius. Too bad too many just didn’t get it.
I guess its time for Tosh .2
I am very sorry to hear this. I love Wilmore’s sit down brand of humor re current events. I think he should have just spent the whole half hour doing that.
Edit, Maybe Jon Stewart and Larry would team up for a new show. Now that would be funny if they could get it going while Trump is still running for prez.
Though I do not have cable, I did occasionally catch Mr. Wilmore by podcast. I’m sorry to see him go – I rather enjoyed watching his take on this nation’s politics. However, I do understand the ratings issue. I give kudos to Comedy Central for giving the show a fair shot. Good fortunes to Larry Wilmore – I’m sure we’ll be seeing him around.
It’s certainly not from a lack of GOP comedic material…
He is a funny guy, too bad he’s gone.
Black comics matter…
I had high hopes for he Nightly Show, but found it unwatchable once his monologue was over. I hope he comes back to the Daily Show.
I agree. I don’t understand why the show couldn’t be re-worked as opposed to just outright cancelled.
Unless the network thought that Wilmore was attracting too much negative publicity. But that doesn’t wash because Jon Stewart was a lightning rod for outspoken political news.
That’s a shame. I did not watch the show regularly, but any time I tuned it in, I was entertained and often educated. I hope Mr. Wilmore will find another spot on television or other media. I fear many were turned off by the “black point of view” often expressed; I think that was one of the things that made it unique.
Right. See my edit. The Jon and Larry show?
`I thought the show dumb down the political talk to appeal to the stupid Millennials. But Wilmore & Co. further digressed by having ignorant rappers, unfunny comedians and d-list actors on panel that were equally ignorant about politics.
I used to watch Colbert religiously. Too bad CC decided their audience could not handle more sophisticated political comedy.
Larry is funny but the show just wasn’t. Mike Yard was funny. The rest of the cast not so much. The table discussions were mostly just painful. Hope Larry finds something else.
The show wasn’t bad but in the end, it wasn’t a must-see show. Given limited TV time, it just drifted down the list of my recorded shows.
Damn it. I really liked this show. MUCH better than the new TDS with Trevor. The biggest problem was that I wanted to flip to Stephen Colbert to see how HE was doing too. So now what? We only have FOX telling us that BLM and other ‘black’ matters are biased because ALL people and/or colors have ‘issues’?
I’m very disappointed. I watched every episode. Not only was Larry funny, but he had a strong cast of writer/performers from Mike Yard to Francesca Ramsey, Holly Walker, Jordan Carlos and more, they had a cohesiveness that I don’t feel even the Daily Show with Trevor Noah has yet matched. It’s just a shame it never caught on like it deserved to.
Give him The Daily Show after President Trump deports Trevor Noah.
Bingo
Trump representative Rudy Giuliani spoke out against the Black Comics Matter movement.
“When you say black comics matter, that’s inherently racist,” Giuliani said. “Black comics matter. White comics matter. Asian comics matter. Hispanic comics matter. That’s anti-American and it’s racist.” He then added, “9/11, 9/11, 9/11.”
Asked whether he agreed with Giuliani’s assessment, Trump said the group’s name is “divisive.”
