Oliver provides longer investigative pieces such as on 60 Minutes, but actually worth listening to. The Miss America segment was devastating.

It is fascinating how much good journalism is being done by comedians right now, each with a different angle, especially compared to how little is done by conventional mainstream “journalists” (most serious investigative journalism seems to come out of “alternative” outlets like ProPublica and Mother Jones; it’s hard to remember the last time one of the networks or cable news channels did anything like that). As much as I’ll miss Colbert, it’ll be interesting to see how Larry Wilmore’s The Minority Report fits in with this group.

Surprisingly, the Sacramento Bee has broken some pretty good stories. But, yeah… it seems more and more that we have to turn to comedians to get to the real meat.

The way a cable news outlet would have done it would be to invite three idiots to give their opinion on the Miss America pageant and ended with the ever sickening “you decide”. I decided a long time ago that they were utter morons!

He also did a very good piece on native advertising (that’s where the ad tries to pass as content), and came to the conclusion that the practice is destructive precisely to the extent that it’s effective. I didn’t see a lot of internet coverage of that one.

With regard to that “miss America” show, it is a reflection on the current owners. None of those people featured in these outdated events reflect any real U.S. women I see everyday! I believe men need to stay out of women’s affairs entirely. Men barely know themselves, and can’t control their own bodies(libido, etc.)! Men have no right to continue dabbling into the beauty & mental capacity of a gender far and away more capable & superior in determining who & what they should look like and be.
