Having the immigrants help to finance the system makes a lot of sense.
It separates the ones who intend to stay from the ones that only use America then go home for one thing. You can’t get a license without insurance for another, so we have a much bigger percentage of insured drivers, which is a very good thing. A real ID should help to make individuals more responsible because it’s their name on the line and if they screw up it adversely affects their ability to gain citizenship, that’s another plus or two.
We are not going to deport this mass of people, we just aren’t, and they damned sure aren’t going to self deport, ala bonehead Romnerd. So, we face the facts and deal with the reality. Mexicans are basically as American as French fries is one way to look at it. They have always been and always will be.
