Discussion: Collins Maintains He's Innocent Of Insider Trading, Calls Indictment A 'Shock'

“The congressman announced days after his indictment that he would suspend his reelection campaign until he was able to clear his “good name” of any wrongdoing.”

That could take a while.

Once again, the jack-booted thugs impose on an innocent bare-footed man just answering his door at 6 a.m.

They turned his house upside-down while he made toast–uncivilized! And then issued him his subpoena.

Guys like Collins have been so corrupt for so long, and surrounded by people who are equally corrupt, that they have no sense of what is legal or illegal. At least that is what his defense in the court of public opinion will be. Call it the George Castanza defense: “Was that wrong? Should I have not done that?”

Collins said he answered the door in a “bathrobe” and “bare feet” and invited them in to speak because “you know you’re innocent.”

So bathrobe + barefeet = innocence. Uh huh. And why is he referring to himself as “you”?

Somehow I doubt the veracity of Collins’ description of the events. They read you your Miranda Rights when you’re involved in a “custodial interrogation”, not when you are questioned without being arrested or detained.

I mean, everyone already knows that from tv, right?

“It was a shock that I got caught”…

Getting caught on TV making the phone call is pretty amusing…

“It turns out, they don’t read you your rights, they don’t tell you you can have an attorney, they don’t tell you why they’re there, it’s just, ‘oh, we’d like to talk.’”

Insert your “a liberal is a conservative who’s been arrested” joke here!

Is Collins’ nickname “Hose Bag?”

It is possible I could believe his claims of innocence. But then I remember he’s a Republican.

Brazen inside traders are always shocked when the FBI shows up with an arrest warrant. It’s that “you can’t arrest me! I’m rich and powerful!” thing.

Claude Rains. “Casablanca”. Gambling.
(I’m not even gonna post it anymore.)

Just shocked, we have a Republican Senate, House, and President how could this happen?

Yeah, funny how Collins forgets that his hero and pimp Donald Trump has been trying to demonize the FBI and other agencies because of the Mueller investigation. I am sure agents of the FBI have great love for Collins. LOL!

Or the “but I’ve done this thirty times before, and it never raised alarm bells” thing.

Yeah, he doesn’t look shifty and guilty at ALL…

Or, at least, any more than any other GOP Congress-critter.

That too. That’s a major factor exacerbating Trump’s narcissistic rage.
