Discussion for article #228173
âAs vital context for the courageous voices of the students in Colorado, the AP community, our member institutions and the American people can rest assured: If a school or district censors essential concepts from an Advanced Placement course, that course can no longer bear the âAPâ designation,â College Board said in the statement."
Thatâs all she wrote, folks. Even RWNJ parents arenât going to accept paying colleges to take courses that could have been covered in high school. Thanks, College Board, for nipping that one in the bud.
The Jefferson County school board obviously wants to be sure students are taught to be good little Nazis.
Looks like intellect triumphed over fear.
Echoing CarlosF but bravo to the College Board for saying âNuh-uh, thatâs stupidâ and then putting a concrete, think-aboutable price on that stupidity if it were acted on. They could have just clucked in disapproval.
Itâs still contemptible that these people want to sugarcoat history and call it education. Sometimes I think modern so-called conservatism is fundamentally one big howl of pain at the idea that life is ever-changing and often complicated. Itâs adolescent, in other words, which is kind of ironic under the particular circumstances.
In my time in Colorado I found it curious as to how far apart the political leanings were. Boulder is liberal as hell, but Colorado Springs, with the AF academy and Fort Carson is hard core right. Itâs always interesting to watch.
Itâs funny, anarchy is what the tea baggers want, what with all there government is the problem Reagan worship.
And god forbid we teach about slavery, we should teach the almighty constitution. (what is that 3/5 business in the constitution about anyway.)
As my non-AP history teacher use to say about manifest destiny, itâs our land, we stole it fair and square.
But thanks for reminding us that drooling about beloved CONSTITUTION is just tea bagger code words expressing their love for racism, genocide, and their precious guns.
Letâs see, what is wrong with your statement?
12 to 15 year olds are not taking AP, 16 to 18 year olds are. And they are just as much citizens as any other, thus able to participate in civil disobedience.
No one said that history is told ONLY through âthe prism of Native Americans. etc.â
Civil disobedience is not anarchy.
And really, why I am even bothering with you, cuz clearly you are not a critical thinker.
Donât count on it. They probably want the kids to go to Liberty âUniversityâ anyway, where they can pay for a âdegreeâ thatâs worthless anywhere except inside Republican politics.
Thereâs not a damn thing in your rantings that has anything to do with the piece up top, and you make a long list of ridiculous assertions and assumptions without a particle of evidence to back them up. Your, uh, contribution here would be a useful example for a lesson on basing an argument on assumptions you pretend are self-evidently true but arenât. Other than that itâs a useless waste of peopleâs time. And if youâre not Beej you do a damn good imitation of him at his most illogical and ridiculous.
Not always a fan of The College Board, but hooray on them for this. Canât all it AP unless you use our materials.
"The Jefferson County school board has proposed
forming a new committee that would ensure that the AP history course
materials âpromote patriotismâ and donât âcondone civil disorder, social
strife or disregard of the law.â"
âŚand end each lesson with all students standing stretching out their right hand, high and flat, and shouting, âSieg Heil! Sieg Heil!..â
Aside from the political motives of the Board (and they ARE strictly political) - what the bagger fools are doing is setting up these students for failure.  Students do NOT get college credit for AP courses UNLESS they get a good score on the AP exams.  Those exams are administered by College Board, which is a national institution. So, if the board messes with the curriculum  - they are practically guaranteeing that the students in Jefferson County will not be able to pass the tests and will not get college credit.  With the price of college - this is a HUGE deal for the parents.
F*cking Rightie dullardsâ revisionism, lunacy and desire to âwhitewashâ history is a prescription for a further lowering of educational standards. UnbelievableâŚnoâŚquite believable for these depraved RightTards.
I see school and learning didnât take with you. They are not talking about children refusing to do their work . The RWNJ do not want children learning about civil disobedience.I would think you would be for that because you say civil disobedience is for adults.Surely you want kids to learn all about cliven bundy and his patriotic duty to shit on the governmentâŚand blacksâŚand all law enforcement except CountyâŚand DemsâŚBenghazi Benghazi Benghazi!!! Just priming your next talking point
When Rightie Cons and Baggers say, âWe want our country back!ââŚthey mean, âWe want our country back⌠to the Dark Ages.â
WE want our country forward!
The technical term for this is ignoratio elenchi or "ignorance of the refutation, and is a logical fallacy also known as âirrelevant conclusionâ, which is essentially a straw-man argument. In this logical fallacy, even if everything that is claimed is true it still doesnât constitute a refutation of the original point. It is simply irrelevant.
I too wondered if this could be EG/beej, but his style is different. Not less stupid, just different.
Our children IS learning!!!
Exactly only old white landowning mens should make decisions. Har har har.
Troll much?
Whoâs the silly git from NY?
