Discussion: Colbert To O'Reilly: 'It Hurts Me To Know I Hurt The Man I Admire Most'

Discussion for article #228344

See, Bill, you bleeping egomaniac, this is why you don’t poke the tiger with a stick. It jumps up and rips your throat out. You spend your last moments, before you bleed out and die, wondering why poking the tiger seemed like a good idea in the first place.

I’m sure Colbert’s first reaction to megalomaniac O’Reilly’s knee-jerk reaction and inability to control himself, was, “He responded? Bwwahahahaaaaaaaa! Get the writers in her pronto! I’ve already got some great ideas.”

When you’re arguing with a comedy show and its host, you’ve already lost BillO’… BigTime!

Bill O’Reilly’s idea is pathetic. Even the folks on Fox see that. Why does he still have a show.

As Sherlock 1 says when you’re arguing with the host of a comedy show you have already lost.

O’Reilly’s first mistake in this matter: Responding to Colbert. Colbert ate him blood raw!

I think Bill’s advice to run away from someone who doesn’t have constructive criticism is going to result in an avalanche of walker failures and broken hips in his prime demographic.

…and you know he’ll take another whack at him.

Because stupid.

O’Billo’s right about one thing: he and Colbert are of different ilks.

I doubt any of Bill-O’s “fans” would have ever heard of Colbert’s criticism (or even know who he is) if he himself hadn’t brought it up!

Oh yeah. O’Reilly honestly doesn’t know what he’s dealing with. Colbert’s an ideologue who’s all about feelings? Wha-at? That’s not what he is at all. You can’t fight what you don’t understand. And until O’Reilly understands that Colbert stands about 40 IQ points over him and knows how to use every one, he’ll never lay a glove on him.

The first thing I thought last night as a watched was, Colbert is in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

You have video of that, right?

Oh…you were speaking metaphorically? Damn.

Never argue with a comedian! They hide very well behind satire and when shown wrong with facts, the claim is that they are simple comedians who shouldn’t be taken seriously. It’s a lost battle from the beginning, O’Reilly should know better.

“O’Reilly should know better”

That was sarcasm, right?

Using your definition, Bill Orally is the comedian. Look at how many times facts have proved Orally wrong.

Why does he still have a show?

Because he attracts enough people who like that Bill is self assured and explains things in easy to understand black and white terms. It prevents them from having to think or wrestle with the complexities of whatever situation he is Billsplaining.

Have a little faith in me, now…

Colbert is a genius pretending to be a pundit.
O’Reilly is a pundit pretending to be a genius.

I agree, Elephant. When you only have a knife, avoid gunfights. Don’t meddle in the affairs of dragons, either, because you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. And most of all, read the writing on the wall: when it says “no brains, no shirts, no service” and you are wearing a shirt, then it is time to go home.
