Discussion: Colbert: I'll Support Bill O'Reilly When He Comes Out As Republican

Discussion for article #228681

Love it. Colbert beating on O’Reilly like he was a drum. The schoolyard bully gets his face ground in the dirt again because he was too stupid and arrogant to realize what he was getting into. Yosemite Sam taking on Bugs Bunny. Sometimes sheer ill nature is not enough to win a fight with, Bill, you dumb bastard. Declare surrender now or the beatings will continue.

Coy conservatives love to play the “Independent” card to bolster their alleged “objectivity”, and to distance themselves from the most embarrassing antics of the GOP.

As the GOP has abandoned any pretense of a coherent policy, it’s getting a lot more difficult for these “Independants” to define the differences, and maintain the illusion.

When you say you are an independent it just means you are ashamed of admitting you are a republican. No real democrat is ashamed of admitting who they are. I say all independents come out of the closet and admit who you really are. I never understood saying you are an independent. It seems to be taking the cowards way out of being committed to something, anything.

Brillo certainly has allowed Colbert to get under his thin skin . . .

We all know BillO’s a Republican, but he just doesn’t want to come out because he’s terrified of being judged by society.

turns out there are indeed people who share some beliefs of the right and left simultaneously. There are lots of people who are socially liberal but economically conservative. Those people aren’t cowards, they are simply in the position of having to vote based on which issues the candidates present as priorities and on the character of the candidate themselves.

Plus, there are plenty of liberals that are ashamed of the Democratic label. They won’t vote Republican, but they can’t call themselves Democrats. I count myself among them.

O’Reilly has engaged an opponent with whom he doesn’t have a prayer of winning. He continues to get pummeled again and again and again. His ego won’t allow him to stand down. So be it.

What does ‘fiscally conservative’ mean? I get what you are getting at but for me that would mean ‘No Corporate Welfare’…

I love the image of Yosemite Sam vs. Bugs Bunny. Thanks for that =)

Shirley you jest, a republican? Colbert a republican, say it ain’t so.

Going to miss Mr. C…

I’m a free-thinking, independent kind of guy.

As such, I always, ALWAYS vote against the GOP.

Because they are anything but.

Priceless.

Bugs Bunny is what I have instead of religion to help me understand and deal with life. In this one cartoon they’re fighting and Bugs draws a line in the dirt and dares Sam to step over it, which he immediately does. Bugs is shocked for a moment and then realizes this aggressiveness can be turned against an opponent, so he starts drawing more lines, and more lines, and Sam keeps stepping over them, and you see they’re heading out of town and toward a distant cliff…but no, I won’t spoil it for you.

They want the freedom for free.

Republican can take their helmets off in space because most don’t breath air. They may be people but the ad doesn’t say anything about them being alive. You folks so easily jump to conclusions!

Sorry but that’s just a generalization and a stupid one at that.

I left the GOP in 2004 and became independent because I hated where the party was headed, hated Bush’s rush into Iraq and hated the swift-boating of one of my brothers in arms from the Vietnam era.

I am a fiscal conservative and want to see corporate welfare ended except in those cases where it serves to keep an industry competitive and provides jobs for Americans.

I understand the need for a strong military but i’m against having it used as the free worlds police force.

I’m fairly liberal on social issues and downright fanatic on the rights of women, LBGT citizens and minorities rights.

I’m turned off by the whole political party thing and look forward to Oregon passing the open primary system next month so I and about 600,000 others in this state can have a say in choosing the best candidates in the general elections instead of party hacks doing that for us.

So stay away from sloppy generalizations OK? Only people of lazy intellect do crap like that.

Oh SNAP!

Will these phony, macho a-holes never learn? You do, not, piss-off Stephen Colbert. Methinks O’Liar bit off more than he could swallow, and I’m not talking about his last Rent Boy.
