Discussion: Colbert Goads Rumsfeld Into Admitting Intelligence That Got Us Into Iraq Was Faulty (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #245100

Rumsfeld 2016: “What’s important is the intentions of people…”

Rice 2002: “The problem here is that there will always be some uncertainty about how quickly Saddam can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don’t want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud.”

Mr, Rumsfeld, how would you classify Ms. Rice’s intentions?

Rumsfeld is still so damned smug. He should be begging forgiveness from the american people and the millions of people in Irag and throughout the middle east who are living the fallout of his arrogant stupidity. He deserves to be spending the remainder of his life in disgrace and in jail instead of regurgitating his on-going bullshit on national TV.

the first thought that comes to me is “war criminal”.
Rummy, Cheney et. al cherry-picked the intel to get C+ Augustus to start a war.

… i’ll take “fear-mongering” for $1000, Alex…

I always thought it was just fake blowhard jingoism designed to somehow make Democrats look unpatriotic if they didn’t say it loudly, but the Republicans are right: this is an exceptional country. In most civilized nations, war criminals are sent to the Hague. In 'Murica, they get to peddle stupid apps.

Rumsfeld: speculative intel

“If it were a fact, it wouldn’t be called intelligence.” (Donald Rumsfeld)

Well, sir, that’s explains why you and the other GWBushies weren’t at all factual.

Oh, there were unknown knowns…Colbert is right, and Rumsfeld should’ve known because the memo came to him in 2002. He hid that report and pretended it wasn’t worth passing along as part of the so-called intelligence. Rummy is a scumbag and a weasel. The man should be behind bars if not for his double-talk and pure deceit, then for the thousands of soldiers and civilians that ended up dead or permanently maimed on account of his rush to set this country on a path to War. Fuck all his games…including some dumbass solitaire. As someone here said yesterday, the man belongs in solitaire confinement.

Is Rumsfield out of money ? Why is an 83-year old man peddling Apps instead of having a simple retirement, without raising questions about his dubious past ?

Is he hoping JEB! will pay him to go away and not remind everybody about W, just one week before the first Caucus ?

unfortunately, one cannot leave a review on the Apple App Store without having first bought an app. I was soooo looking forward to the deluge of negative reviews.

A nuclear weapons facility is visible from space, one of the most obvious of WMD production/storage sites. The Bush admin had to make up the lies about Iraq importing uranium from Niger to have anything at all to use for it’s “mushroom clouds” allegations. The UNSCOM inspectors had been back in Iraq from October 2002 until Bush kicked them out for his illegal invasion in March of 2003 and they found nothing to warrant Rice and Cheney’s claims, just as David Kayes people found nothing after the invasion. The vote for the AUMF was not a vote to allow Bush to go to war against Iraq as is portrayed all too often. It was a well intentioned show of support for the POTUS by Congress in a time of great national trauma after 9-11. It held the caveat that Bush could only invade if Sadaam did not disarm. Via a 12,000 page document turned over the UN Security Council that detailed how and when they had destroyed WMD facilities and stockpiles and the invitation by Sadaam for the UNSCOM inspectors to come back into Iraq in October the lie was put to all of the Bush neo con war mongering lies. Bush invaded in spite of the fact that Iraq had disarmed. There was no doubt of that. Bush lied to the American people and the Congress then violated the AUMF by waging a war of choice on a nation they knew was no threat to us. Criminal pre emptive war.

I don’t care how the AUMF was worded, everybody involved knew it was a vote for or against war.

Jebya is encouraging him out of the mothballs. This is the apology tour. He is lying now, was lying then and will always be trying to make up for lying about the Unknown Knowns. Just more propaganda and subterfuge in the hope that at least the warmongers will forgive him and G-d forbid, nominate another Bush.

Churchill Solitaire…for all you warmongerers without a conscience or friends. Endorsed by Putin, Baghdadi, Kim, and other esteemed world leaders.

Yea, I would have said American Neocons. Netanyahu went to high school in Pennsylvania.

I know I called it the Apology Tour, but I’d like to rephrase, also and call it the Excuse Tour.
