Discussion for article #229443

Hey, some of Corbett’s best digital, slightly pixelated friends are black!

Frankly, I was more flabbergasted to learn on Colbert’s show that in Pennsylvania its perfectly legal to kill, sell and eat cats and dogs…and thanks to the NRA they’ll continue to do so. Wow. Pennsylvania has a Republican led legislature and a Republican governor. The state has really gone to hell. Between an insane amounts of fracking and being able to eat Fido…Pennsylvania really needs to get their shit together and vote these no-goodniks out of office.

And this story about Pennsylvania snookering the public in the lame duck session of their legislature is almost worse. The PA legislature pulled a couple of last minute moves I thought they only did in my home state, when politicians don’t want the public to really know what they’re up to.

I guess its Pepe La Pew’s lucky week pulling the wool over everybody’s eyes in PA…
Edit: They should have called this the “Magneto Bill”.

PENNSYLVANIA — VOTE THE BUMS OUT!!! You’re better than this.

I have to say that to my knowledge it doesn’t happen much. I imagine the proposed law was mostly a delightfully wicked attempt to see how willing the NRA is to make itself appear even more contemptible than it already is.

ETA Jesus, there really were people doing this breeding, for God’s sake. It’s legal in 44 states because we love freedom in this country more than we love not being horrible. The bill did pass the House, and was introduced by my own rep among many others. (God, this is embarrassing.)

Corbett is D U S T done. He may as well photo shop his own funeral. The Democrats may sweep the Governor’s races and pick up seats in the senate but you’d never know it by reading the daily gloom.
The Republican/teabaggers are awful, all of them, if they happen to win one here or there it won’t be because they aren’t awful but because they’re awfully motivated.

Its legal in 44 states??? Pigeon shooting out of a bird cannon, or selling and eating dogs and cats?

Legal in 44 states referred to the dogs and cats part—eating and, I’m assuming, selling too. It was mentioned in passing in something I googled, so I’m not sure. Seems like the kind of thing they don’t get around to banning because you wouldn’t think they’d have to. I have no idea how widespread the pigeon shoot approach is but canned hunting is definitely an entrenched thing. Many hunters condemn it but it still has a market.

Mittens Romney wants the Republicans to know that there is no reason to stoop to photoshopping to woo the African American vote. He is working hard to win them over with his deft political skills…like yelling “Who lets the dogs out? Who’ Who’?” at African American children and sporting a new ‘look’ that will endear him to the AA community and win them over as he heads for the White House in 2016! “Be cool…Relate!” is his outreach theme:
~meh!~

Colbert is usually not the leading story and I think his headlines (on this site) tend to put what he said in plain language, minus the sarcasm. Got thrown for a loop, thought maybe he’d said something actually terrible, was wondering what mirror universe I’d landed in.

Why the change?

Pretty impressive work by Buzzfeed. That picture was flipped and only part of a complex stock photo. How did they do it?

Nigerian scam artists are amateurs compared to members of the republican party. Who in the hell votes for these people, mind boggling, truly mind boggling.

Holy shit…I think I found the same article you’re referring to. Anyway, I found out in Michigan its a misdemeanor if its not labelled dog meat. Well, that’s some kind of weird fucking improvement I guess. Good Lord.

While I find it odd that the NRA gives a shit, I don’t see the difference between breeding cats and dogs for food and breeding other animals for food. If someone is against doing this with any animal, then I can see the argument. If people are doing it in an unsafe way health wise, then that should be regulated, same as other meats. But if it’s just because they are cute and it’s a cultural norm, then I think imposing that norm on people with threat of a 7 year prison sentence is unjust.

Did he include any First Nations people?

Magic Eight Ball says: My Reply is NO.

TBH, photoshopping that picture together (including changing the color of the woman’s shirt), and repeating that for half a dozen more people, seems a hell of a lot more complicated and just getting a bunch of random people together and taking a real picture.

This was among the best opening segments of his show ever. Just hysterical. Only 2 months left of this…

But, is it legal in Pennsylvania to eat my gun?
