Nothing like trash talk.
From the loser…
Cohen’s lawyer taken down for his impertinence. Christmas has arrived early…again.
'Is that all you got?
See ya, pal, and go visit your client when you can.’
I was all in on leniency for Cohen (we need a contrast to Trump’s offers of pardons to people to keep them quit, give witnesses a way to break from the mob boss) but when I found out he refused to fully cooperate, well then I think he gets time in Jail. He is going to jail for three years because he would not come clean about other things. What I don’t know, and wonder about, is if these are crimes involving Trump or others (such as in the Taxi business, russian underworld in NYC). MY guess is the second, which is why Mueller is saying go easy on him, and the SD of NY is not.
Agreed.
Some reporting indicates that it’s his own father-in-law that he’s trying to protect.
If it’s not for you to say, don’t say it. Does acting like an ass help your client any?
It does not speak well for any future clients who have to face these prosecutors. The old saying always holds: “It is better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.”
Doubtless the Russian Mafia have their guys inside prisons. No wonder he won’t give full cooperation. Would the father-in-law put a hit on his daughter’s spouse? Not sure I’d push the question if I were Michael.
It’s the defense attorney’s job to get the least sentence for their client.
But doing this way is just…weak.
And, more importantly for Cohen, ineffective.
Here’s hoping Cohen stiffs him on the bill.
Almost as if he was so vocal in cooperating against Trump - to send a strong signal to the other ones he wasn’t cooperating against.
Reminds me of some high US “elected” official…humm…
Count yourself lucky, Petrillo. You aren’t going to jail and you may even get paid.
Three years is very light for what he did. Families have been destroyed by the man he put in power. I appreciate his repentance if it is sincere, but that cannot wash away treason. His sentence is a generously lenient one and is all he should expect from cooperation.
3 years is peanuts in the federal system… he’ll be out in 2 and most likely do his time at a relatively comfy FPC playing tennis and making burritos with other white collar crooks.
Question: What the hell is deal with Felix Sater? is he a CI? and has been all along?
My hypotheses is the FBI has been working on a Trump case for years with Sater as their inside CI. Everyone including Mueller has been very quiet about Sater and his role… anyone else know anything?
He might, but even if he didn’t, I expect the father-in-law knows a lot of people, and full cooperation would mean talking about dad-in-law’s associates as well as dad-in-law.
I agree with you. He was a vicious asshole as Trump’s lawyer and needs to be treated as a now inconvenient mob consigliere who in the end was too smart by half. Plus, while I’m no expert in criminal sentencing, banging him for three years may motivate him to sing even more for Mueller in the hope that he can get his sentence remitted. It may be that SDNY and SCO are playing good cop/bad cop with him to squeeze everything out of him.
We also can’t forget that, at bottom, he’s a traitor to his country.
I’d bet Cohen has money stashed off shore that he’d have to give up with full cooperation.
Taunting prosecutors who you’ll likely encounter again as they press charges against you or your clients strikes me as being an unwise thing to do.
