Maybe not, but it was still a priceless reaction, sir.
Well playedâŚ
âI and the entire intel community are committed to providing the best possible intelligence to inform and support President Trumpâs ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling in our upcoming elections,
This is a nonapology apology. The key phrase is above. Heâs not backing down from the unanimous IC conclusion -which Trump has repeatedly questioned - that Russia interfered in our 2016 elections and that it is ongoing.
âBut I was just so fâing gobsmacked by his incredible idiocy and subjugation to our adversary, I couldnât hide it.â
So this is basically the Dilbert in which the boss bumbles back and says, "Itâs a good thing you said âwith all due respectâ ".
(oblig: Scott Adams turned out to be a colossal douche, but his comics were funny)
At least the whole NoKo thing is going bigly well for Putinâs PoodleâŚ
Coats knows he protected by the Senate. Thatâs a good thing.
â⌠President Trumpâs ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling in our upcoming election,â
Prevent. Protect. Ignore⌠words.
I donât know any meaning of the word âawkwardâ that would apply to an expression of genuine surprise followed by obvious mockery. He said âsay that againâ as a laugh line, he made a gesture of mock horror when the word âtweetâ was spoken, and then of course the âThatâll be special.â These little slips will happen when you really, really loathe someone and constantly have to pretend you donât. Donât ask me how I know.
âSome press coverage has mischaracterized my intentions in responding to breaking news presented to me during a live interview,â Coats said in a statement quoted by multiple outlets. âMy admittedly awkward response was in no way meant to be disrespectful or criticize the actions of the President.â
âI and the entire intel community are committed to providing the best possible intelligence to inform and support President Trumpâs ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling in our upcoming elections, to build strong relationships internationally in order to maintain peace, denuclearize dangerous regimes and protect our nation and our allies,â he added.

I imagine this is how life must have been under monarchies ruled by a boy-king. With advisors constantly trying to guide the enfant-terrible in the right direction, and tearing their hair out in frustration when thwarted due to rampant immaturity. And with the knowledge that little could be done to depose the boy-brat.
Heâs protected, if Schumer, Warren or Durbin become majority leader.
If âCecilâ is still the majority leader in 2019, then Coatsâs goose is cooked.
âI and the entire intel community are committed to providing the best possible intelligence to inform and support President Trumpâs ongoing efforts to prevent Russian meddling" but heâs too damned stupid and compromised to use it for the purposes for which it is intended. Hence, my reaction.
I had assumed that Coats was just another lackey, suck-up Repiglican until this week. He really does seem to know and care about the country as well as being a polished diplomat. I am impressed, and relieved. Thankfully, I donât have to hold my tongue like he does.
The word works in the sense of âoh, that wasnât supposed to be out loud; my, how awkward.â
âI love the smell of groveling in the morning.â
Right. I didnât think for one second that he was being disrespectful. He was certainly surprised and doing his best to come up with non-critical remarks.

[/quote]Not quite yet, but give it a few more days. Trump will demand repeated grovelings,
and even then, Coats will probably experience a severe freeze-out.
How much shit is he willing to take?
