Discussion: Coal Baron GOPer Says McConnell Has Conflict over Wife's Chinese Birth

I love that last paragraph. He’s planning to renounce his citizenship for tax purposes, no doubt, because he hasn’t screwed the people of West Virginia sufficiently.

This guy sounds ideal for the GOP ticket. He even used the more inclusive term “chinaperson” in his bigoted screed.

It is a poser in the overall storyline. And better still, while Blankenship might think a guy with a bent for dirty coal like himself would fit right in in China, what he’s failed to notice is that they’re going all out to supplant their use of coal. So he’d be jumping from the frying pan (wok?) into the fire. Anyone ever get ol’ Don on tape saying: Here, hold my beer?

“Wealthy Chinaperson” ho ho - wink, wink - We know you meant Chinaman.

You were on the radio. Were you wearing your Chop Suey Specks, too?

Inter-party politics go intra-party.

If there was ever an example of how Republican politicians regularly operate, but without the issue of party fealty as an advantage, this certainly could make it on the list.

Worth discussing with all your Republican friends (snark alert).

I think you meant “predictably” rather than “paradoxically.”

First it was put party interests over those of the country. If that doesn’t work, put personal interests (and bias) over those of the party. Hey, it’s the Trump way! Surprised, anyone?

Paradoxically, Blakenship himself is engaged to be married to a woman born in China and himself considered becoming a Chinese citizen.

It never fails. The hypocrisy is so ingrained and profound they don’t see it themselves, or try to hide it.

Speaking on a West Virginia radio show on Monday, Blankenship suggested McConnell has a conflict of interest when it comes to foreign relations because his wife, Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, was born in China. Chao’s father is a “wealthy Chinaperson,” said Blankenship, “And there’s a lot of connections to some of the brass, in you will, in China"

…

Paradoxically, Blakenship himself is engaged to be married to a woman born in China and himself considered becoming a Chinese citizen.

Sigh.

And just so we’re clear, I could give a damn about Chao or McConnell or any of those lowlives because I do believe they are dirty scum in their own right. My issue is how Blankenship is making the same type of assumptions that trump made when he commented about the judge in the border wall case. They assume people can’t be impartial or fair and must have ulterior motives because of their racial makeup. Perhaps because THEY themselves can’t. The right always says they dont see race and to not play the race card when its so clear that they are the mains ones that do.

Not to mention the President;'s foreign-born wife. What is it with these guys that they can’t find a wife within the 150 or so million women who were Born in the USA?

There is no such thing as a paradox in today’s GOP. It’s the party that nominated a known fornicator, liar, thief, and racist for President, all the while assuring you he was sent to us by God.

It’s so encouraging to see Blankenship bring his own special brand of charm and ingratiation to the GOP. He’s the Platonic ideal of a Republic candidate - just like Trump.
