Why? Because he’s a gold mine! His antics are probably the best thing CNN has come up with in decades. Sure, it wasn’t intentional, but I have to believe his continued employment means they’ve recognized that they have stumbled upon a unique talent perfectly suited to the infotainment industry, a veritable Yogi Berra for the 21st Century, albeit lacking the brilliance of the savant that would be lost on today’s America anyhow.

Lemon has become the mainstream answer to Comedy Central’s satire, with the added benefit of being genuinely representative of the utter incompetence of the highbrow-circulating teleprompter-reading personalities so many confuse with real journalists. People are waiting right now to pounce on his next fuck-up. He gets eyeballs.

Plus, he’s a black buffoon at that! A two-fer! I’m tellin’ ya, Bob Beckel has nothing on this guy. That’s my theory, and I’m stickin’ with it :smile:

I believe you are spot on. An old news sellout, Roger Grimsby, started letting the alcohol take over and began lifting eyebrows and snarking it up as a news anchor and the ratings climbed. This is a similar “gift in the lap”.

I haven’t been here in a long while, but I was drawn in by the HuffPo’ish headline. Is twice considered repeatedly? I think not.
I know Oscar wrap is hard to avoid, except that I live in SoCal and avoid it every year without breaking a sweat.

I was hoping for a more serious conversation here - all NEWS ALL the time, dammit!!!
Instead, I guess I’ll have to lighten up a bit and chill.
