Discussion: CNN: Trump's Personal Lawyer To File Complaint Against Comey For 'Leaks'

It’s not. There’s no privilege it violates. If you say hello to me on the street and ask how my dad is, and I write down a description of the encounter and show it to other people, it’s exactly the same. Trump has zero legal standing to complain. He’s just trying to smear Comey with false accusations because that’s what he does all day every day to every antagonist.

How asinine. Utterly lame.

But this is how Trump has lived his life. Sandbox bully. Your mother wears combat boots.

And that’s pretty much what this “complaint” amounts to too.

I don’t think the bully tactics are going to work out too well here.

Comey don’t play that.

Unless I’m mistaken, the only thing “leaked” was the summary he’d written up of what he was going to say on Thursday that came out Wednesday.

With a hyper-manipulative animal like Trump, what’s an FBI chief to do?

From what I understand, White House staff are the most prolific sources of leaks. Kasowitz makes no mention of that.

Second only to Trump’s twitter feed.

Comey’s opening statement wasn’t leaked. He gave it to the Senate Intel committee and asked them to disseminate it.

Trump’s lawyer is so far out of his depth in these matters. Trump should have worked harder to get one of those white shoe DC firms to represent him. At least they wouldn’t be setting him up for even greater embarrassment by filing lawsuits that get laughed out of court – like his executive orders.

Trump’s Lawyer : he did nothing wrong!
Trump’s Doctor : he’s the fittest person ever to run for president in history!

Moral of the story : Trump surrounds himself with nincompoops

The right of current or former government employees to speak out on matters of public concern is protected under the U.S. Constitution. This is how a democracy functions.

I assume that you mean to include Chiselin’ Trump, himself, amongst the “White House staff,” as he is the Leaker in Chief, having leaked classified intelligence directly to the Russians from within the Oval Office, no less!

I have a feeling he doesn’t trust any new folks to know all the shit he’s done and is doing. Just sticking with folks he knows and trust.

Trumps fans buy it. There are a bunch of viral lists out there about how Trump was vindicated by Comey, btw. It is all crap, but the fans eat it up.

As a matter of fact, I get the impression the thing they are most excited about is the hatchet job Comey did on Lynch, and how their dream of getting Hillary Clinton is still within reach.

I don’t know, when I do obstruction of justice stuff, I do it out in public in front of hundreds of witnesses…instead of what people normally do, is plot activities on burner phones or in office building garages.

This is terrible! Comey might get fired, or something!

I await eagerly this brilliant legal scholar’s identification of a single provision of Title 18, U.S.C. that sharing an unclassified document with the public breaches.

Trump desperately needed a smooth D.C. white collar criminal lawyer with deep connections in the DOJ and the Washington establishment, with as prominent a constitutional law professor as would touch Trump acting as an adviser and spokesperson.

Being Trump, he hired an abrasive NYC real estate civil litigation bully with deep ties to Russia and the Russian mob who was in over his head the second he took the case and, like Trump, doesn’t realize it.

This is classic pissing in the wind.

The DoJ IG can’t do anything, because Comey is no longer a government employee.

Whatever Senate Committee he files a complaint with will just shrug its collective shoulders and chuckle at the bone-deep stupidity of the complaint.

Kasowitz’ NYC bully act won’t fly in DC.

If this leak (ahem) is accurate, the complaints aren’t being filed in court, rather with the DoJ IG and the committee that just asked Comey to testify. Neither of which has to do diddly-squat about them. (But, on the other hand, Trump doesn’t have to get deposed or testify anywhere).

The one to DoJ may have repercussions, because it’s arguably an attempt by trump to use the power of his office to injure someone he considers an enemy. Which is another item in the typical bill of impeachment.

I’m sure this will totally derail all the investigations as the Intelligence Committee and the Inspector General will each be distracted for about ten minutes.

If he had engaged in misconduct while he was an employee, they might be able to come after him. And if the material were actually sensitive/classified, he might have post-employment rules to follow. But that wouldn’t be the IG’s job.

My response to that when young was:

“No she doesn’t, they just look like combat boots!”

And note the complaint is about “leaking” and not about “lying.” I wonder why?
