And that ladies and gentlefolks, is why you can never have such a nice and clean revolution in America as Bernie envisioned. The mob just wants a strong man and squelch its thirst for violence, once unleashed you can’t ride that tiger.
It’s like a nervous tick by now. I think it’s so deeply internalized they don’t even realize anymore that they are doing it.
I’ve seen this before, H. O. in caps, as a reference to Trump. What does it stand for?
Hillary’s Opponent
Thank you.
I knew—knew! that once the acronym was explained, I’d have a V8 moment, complete with forehead thwapping. It is so.
the “rigged” media gave trump millions in free advertising. fucking hypocritical ingrate.
too bad, the media should boycott covering trump, see what he says. but unfortunately, it’s all about ratings.
Anything remotely associated with HO deserves a thwapping, so you’re in good company…
Amen, bro! I wish I could give this 50 “likes”.
HO is “Her opponent.” I think it came from Obama referring to Trump that way to deliberately avoid saying his name because Trump loves to hear his own name so much.
ETA - Example here.

Of course you realize that for Trump voters, “the Establishment” = minorities, women, gays, immigrants, etc. That’s why a rich, privileged white guy is the “outsider” to them.
Clearly the unhinged candidate is attracting the unhinged. Question is what proportion of Trump supporters are around the bend.
Good grief! To remember those two names, you must be as old as I am!
I think that is hundreds of millions–if not a billion in free coverage. They helped build that. Partly, it was strategic on their part – because they knew they were building up a candidate with such fail potential, and they kept going back to him because he brings in the viewers, the clicks … advertisement revenues must be through the roof. What pisses me off is they were playing with our lives in a very real, dangerous way. What if his campaign actually somehow took off and he and his people somehow maintained a level of control of his outlandish, hate and fascist tendencies – just enough to keep fooling enough people? IMO, we really need a 21 Century version of the Fairness Doctrine and an FCC (and FEC) with sharp teeth on what is acceptable political behavior. This constant crap, constantly going back to the “scandals” of the '80s, '90s … same exact accusations, zero additional evidence. Normally, I’d be very reluctant to say enough is enough but this nation has spent hundreds of millions in witch hunts going after the Clintons with nothing to show for it. At some point, it should be not allowable to keep trying them on the airwaves (political strategy, etc., that is). Yeah, folks can talk all they wish (like on Limbaugh’s and Hannity’s shows but with the Fairness Doctrine in play) but there needs to be a fail safe for the news media with the Clintons allowed to go after them in a court of law. Yes, that can be a slippery slope, but I’m limiting it to the re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-hashing of the same politics that are actually settled a hundred times over, nothing like the recent sexual misconduct allegations because those are new, haven’t run their way through the courts and being re (to the 100X)-hashed just for political hay. IOW, after a certain point, it just becomes slander if there is no new evidence. And, yes, the “some point” would/should be way down the road … kinda like where we are on many of these old allegations.
Has the FEC even gone after HO’s ass for all that foreign donations outreach he did? Not just once but over and over. Blatant law-breaking.
(Putting away soap box)
ETA: I know most all of that is not doable and is a slippery slope. I am just venting.
I have a hard time having much sympathy for these people who are so angry at the “establishment.” Many do not vote or vote very regularly, or vote for local and state candidates, or pay enough attention to the issue to vote for what might actually help them. They keep voting for Republicans in spite of the fact that they almost always do worse under conservative administrations. Being angry and bitter doesn’t get one very far in this world in any time or place.
The Republicans have been working their way towards this level of incivility ever since they took in the Tea Party people. They have become more and more extreme every election cycle. The don’t support the government and yet they want their people elected to government positions so they can continue to tear down the apparatus of our democracy. Now they are reaping what they sowed. Unfortunately we all are engulfed in the ugly talk, the anger, the brutality. Thanks to these conservative extremists we have a country with loons walking around displaying guns that were created with only one purpose: to kill humans. They do this because they like to display their anti-social power and disrespect for the customs that bind a civil society.
Our Supreme Court (when Scalia was still alive) enabled the flood of money that has created a media that doesn’t care about anything other than raking in as much money as they can. The “both sides do it” approach means that they will do anything to keep money rolling in as long as possible. Citizen’s United needs to be repealed as soon as possible and the Voting Rights laws restored. The conservatives on the Supreme Court are the worst people in the world for what they have done to our country.
They have been “Fox Lite” for a long time.
Its all about $$$$$$$$ BC.
And waste a bump? “UFO confirmed in Walla Walla. Is it real?” Good gawd,.You seem to suggest the complete destruction of the Eyewitness TV News business model.
These poor broadcast licensees struggle to survive; do you have any idea what it costs to extend a paved horseshoe driveway 38 feet in Cicero or, worse, SOMA SF? The cost of zoning variances? Planning commissions? The mental anguish?
