Discussion: CNN Reporter Recalls Having Car Keyed, Producer Followed At Trump Rally

Who would follow her? Have you seen her? Rigged. Sad.

The anger at the establishment. Okay, I get that. I usually think of the more extreme displays of anger as the voice of the voiceless (ie riot is the voice of the unheard).

Butā€¦ butā€¦ when the leader of this movement is a guy born into wealth, loaned vast sums of $ to start him on his way, followed by more and more of Dadā€™s money, and all the best and most privileged from a guy whoā€™s had no problem getting himself heard, the anger at the establishment does not make sense.

ā€œTime and time again, I have seen Americans from both sides of the aisle fail to treat one another with respect and dignity. Iā€™ve watched them fail to treat one another as human beings.ā€

False equivalence much?

I appreciate that Trump goons victimized her; thatā€™s un-American, dangerous, and illegal.

But Clinton 45 doesnā€™t call out and mock reporters at rallies.
And her attendees donā€™t boo and flip off the press.
Or vandalize their vehicles.

Why canā€™t cable news report anything without saying ā€œboth sides do itā€?

They just canā€™t help themselvesā€¦

I like people who key cars; theyā€™re winners. People who let their cars get keyed are losers.

Which should be clue #1 to more people that itā€™s just a ploy, but cognitive dissonance is strong in the Jacked Up Hate Jedi. On that point, I thought Hillary did a great job in the debates, but I think she missed an opportunity in the last one to point out that while HO screams that the economy is rigged for the wealthy, his solution is - wait for it - tax cuts for the wealthy and highly profitable corporations.

Why did the title of the article say ā€œrecallsā€ which suggests it happened some time ago, rather than ā€œrecountsā€ which is said in the first sentence of the article. If it is current news, why promote it as past news. JMHO

Do not forget that CNN was a huge enabler of the Teabaggers. They sponsored their debates in 2012 and Wolf Blitzer was absolutely ecstatic about it. I have never seen him more jubilant then he was announcing that CNN would hold those debates. Seriously, he was beaming from ear to ear.

I have zero sympathy for CNN and its staff, among which are SIX paid Trump apologists, paid by CNN, to apologize for Trump on-air. They helped make him and this ā€œboth sides do itā€ crap is just that crap. I quit watching CNN in 2008 and they have done NOTHING to encourage me to come back.

Iā€™m fully on board with calling out the false equivalency that is far too prevelant, but unless sheā€™s outright lying, Iā€™ll give her a pass. This is in her CNN article (linked from this TPM story) -

A flash caught my eye. It was a teenager in Trump gear, sprinting with a mob in pursuit. The kid didnā€™t stop running until he was safely ensconced behind a wall of police officers wearing riot gear.
I interviewed him and his father afterward. They held up a pile of Trump campaign
signs they hoped to bring home from the rally that night; each one had been ripped out of their hands, shredded by protesters who reviled Trump.
Over the course of a year and a half, Iā€™ve seen Trump supporters who have spit in protestersā€™
faces. Iā€™ve seen them hurl racial slurs with abandon.Iā€™ve also watched protesters cold-cock Trump supporters ā€“ and vice versa ā€“ in fits of rage. And Iā€™ve watched Trump opponents harass a woman and pelt her with eggs.

I donā€™t know much about Murray, so maybe sheā€™s biased, but I can safely say there are some people on our side who behave badly. I strongly suspect itā€™s a much smaller number than HO supporters. I also strongly suspect no CNN property has been vandalized by Clinton supporters. One thing I would have appreciated in her article is if she has asked her Clinton covering colleagues if theyā€™ve every experienced anything like this.

Itā€™s passion. They just love America so muchā€¦

I guess I take issue with her assuming that those protesters/counter-protesters who show up at a Trump rally represent either side of any ā€œaisleā€, unless itā€™s the sporting goods aisle at Walmart.

Tired of hearing the media say that both sides do it, especially in this cycle.

@grack @irasdad
In other words, just because a mob is protesting Trump supporters, it doesnā€™t necessarily mean theyā€™re Clinton supporters? If so, thatā€™s a fair point. They could just be people looking for a fight, and they know theyā€™ll get it with Trump supporters. And as I said, I doubt youā€™d find this kind of behavior at Clinton rallies, which would be a better representation of her actual supporters.

The only satisfaction I can get out of this story is that people who key cars are people who donā€™t register or bother to vote.

No matter what she sees, she canā€™t go off message. CNNā€™s moronic coverage of this election has if anything contributed to the disorder she experienced. Of course, if she were a real journalist, sheā€™d e somewhere else.

Murray says ā€˜both sides,ā€™ but fails to give any Dem examples

Iā€™m fed up with the media period. Otherwise semi-sentient political reporters seem to be possessed by the ghosts of Hedda Hopper and Luella Parsons.
