Their top priority is keeping their cushy seat and continuing the cash flow from billionaires.

Maybe after that, there might be a day here and there to worry about constituents who aren’t wealthy. Oh, who am I kidding?

OK, but does that mean the carrier serves no purpose in that area at all in the event of non-nuclear action by either NK or other regional threat? At the risk of over-simplifying or using apples and oranges analogies - people can do lots of bad things while cops are 3 blocks away, but I don’t think cops should stop patrolling. OTOH, I realize cops may be the only eyes on the ground where they patrol, whereas we have satellites and other resources to detect ill intent over different parts of the world.

Sorry, have to think these things through and gather more data before forming an opinion.

200K…theater is getting more expensive every day.

So do the people with ill intent. You don’t rob a house with a cop car out front, you wait until he moves on.
Do we think North Korea says “Damn, we were going to launch that war, but look, a carrier battle group right off our coast!! Guess we have to scrap those plans. For good!”

Part of what I was saying is that they know those seats are in jeopardy because of Trump.

NoKo isn’t launching any war because even if Kim really is nuts, and I have no real way of knowing that, somebody there knows that their missiles can’t reach us but ours sure as shit can reach them.

No shit. I was saying that I understand there’s a difference between cop patrol and all of the resources we have on hand that may make the carrier unnecessary. In other words, possibly coming around to your point. I suppose it was a little stream of consciousness for some people, but Jesus.

If we make such a move it would probably get a lot of South Koreans killed. I fail to see any good or plausible military options.

There aren’t any.

And the other party involved here which is much larger than either NoKo or at this point, the US - China - is not about to let a nuclear war go off on it’s border. For one thing it would potentially take away their biggest customer on the planet - us.

Well America - we have the nation we deserve.
Thanks.

Who is this “we” you speak of? The 26% of the electorate who voted for him? Because “we” elected Hillary by 3 million popular votes.

mmmmm…you do realize PRK has a fleet of subs right…?..no?..with nukes

If we could be assured of limited collateral damage I’d be OK with N.Korea launching a precision strike on Adam Sandler.

I might join you in that.

No I don’t because they’ve been launching missiles that make it over japan and no further. They might hit Guam but you are the first person ever whom I can recall has said they have nuclear subs that can reach the US.

Bullshit pal. We aren’t exactly happy about the current proposed budget and I was a bit pleased at the freeze on spending the Repubs imposed on their beloved military with the sequester.

Because we lost the election, in whichever manner it happened, that doesn’t mean that we have given up on what we believe in. Barack had us on a much better path than this and about as realistic as could be considering the MIC’s control over our government.

You are exaggerating your point to make a point. We are already flinching, how we stop it is another matter entirely.

They can drive those subs right up onto Santa Monica beach but having nukes that fit in them is a different thing.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t doubt they have subs but I have never heard that they had fitted them out to carry nuclear missiles.

The US on the other hand, could drive a nuclear sub right into Pyongyang, so we have the same dynamic regardless - we’re still the most militarily over-equipped superpower on the planet.
