It’s not just where she comes from, the lack of experience, or the political bias; it’s that she’s evidently a particularly clownish true believer who has a lot of nonsensical statements and positions trailing in her wake. CNN hires really astonishingly bad people for all kinds of positions but this is pretty close to incomprehensible. There are really crackerjack people out there looking for work right now. It’s indefensible malpractice to do this.

Networks maybe have decided they want Trump another 4 years. The ratings have likely been great.
Easy stories, some are literally retweets, Republicans cutting taxes for the corporate ownership, Net Neutrality giveaway, bound to be a war at some point… what is there not to love for the networks.
Dems might actually demand accountability from our corporate overlords… Cant have that.

What angers me about this attitude, and I’ve seen it elsewhere, is that it treats the Trump administration and everything that’s come with it as just another partisan cycle, rather than an attack on the underlying fabric of our democracy itself, the concept of independent journalism (something which CNN should be sensitive to), and the character of the nation.

No. They hired her as the MANAGING EDITOR of the entire CNN 2020 Political Campaign Team.
SHE will decide what gets covered, and how and by whom, and what gets ignored.
It is all just a game to them since there is no downside to them personally.
