Nothing like leading from behind, Lindsay.

Give credit where due. His Presidential aspirations came to something good after all.

Guess his campaign finally hired a meteorologist.

Treason doth never prosper: what’s the reason?
Why, if it prosper, none dare call it treason.
– Sir John Harrington (1561-1612)

Don’t tell me the prosperity of treason in South Carolina may be about to end. Whatever will they have left to be proud of?

Only Nixon could have gone to China.

On a more serious note, I’ll give the guy credit for this one. He’s essentially destroying any chance he might have had with his hardcore white conservative base.

This will bring his aspirations to an end: he’s got no hope of gaining moderate votes, and he’s destroyed his chances with conservative whites. So, yes, credit to him for this one.

So, until now it was OK to fly the confederate flag? Is that what you are saying, Lindsey? Last week, no problem, even though everybody knows what it stands for?

Lindsay’s initial remarks were a word salad including something about people looking to kill Christians. When he finally heard the outrage, he changed his mind and talked about racially motivated killings. Now he’s showing he really, really understands the issue by for the first time in his career calling for the flag to come down. BTW, the blacks in SC don’t much care for him. Only 6% voted for him in 2014. He has some work to do.

I don’t know about the rest of you commenters, but isn’t this re-education process for the laggards in the GOP tiresome? They sort-of eventually get there to the right conclusion but the amount of coaxing, pushing, prodding, incentivizing and moralizing makes one weary. I suppose the results will be worth it. The re-education agenda is long and continues. Stay strong!

Translation; 'Oh, shit! Everyone else is reading the writing on the wall. Gotta get in on this one."

I’ll be very interested in the language they use to justify this pathetic backpedal from their supposedly heartfelt (and shitty) positions of a couple days ago. And I’m not just talking about Graham and Haley, but all the legislators who will have to super-majority the flag off that pole.

And of course they are cursing, abusing and resorting to outright violence against the educator all the while. What’s the hold-up with those FEMA camps?

Boy I bet he’s pinching himself for saying that, Graham and Southern politicians are the face of whats all wrong with the Deep South, they are a bunch of right wing Evangelical religious fanatics still fighting the civil war and fighting to come to grips that it’s the 21st century and not the 1800’s that their still living in.

Not only does he look like Deputy Dawg he shuffles like him.

Wait a minute…I thought ms lindsay said not two days ago that the hate banner reflected who they are…you know, racist, hate mongers that can’t let go of their loss (a/k/a “heritage”)!!

See, fighting back against these haters actually does work!

I’m still a little confused as to why it didn’t fly at half mast? It seems hard to pretend this isn’t a white nationalist symbol after that.

The flag isn’t hoist with pulleys, it’s nailed, fixed permanently atop the pole by law.

Are the other flags on site mounted in the same way?
