Discussion: CNN: Former Senate Intel Staffer Subject Of DOJ Unauthorized Disclosure Probe

Great. Now where’s the investigation into Devin Nunes and his unauthorized disclosures?

There better not be one rule for unauthorized disclosures by Democrats and another for unauthorized disclosures by Republicans.

With any luck (and lots of hard work), Nunes will be “former” soon.

That’s a long way to go here in California before we unseat Nunes, but there are some good signs from this week’s primary. It will require a lot of hard work to make that a reality.

Um, yeah, about that…maybe you didn’t get the memo? :joy:

I’m in California as well and am following the upcoming House elections, and everything I’ve read says Nunes is safe as is McCarthy. The power of incumbency of strong as is loyalty from fellow farmers. Other Congressional districts look a lot more winnable for us.

@decay500 Don’t count on it.

Or what if the unauthorized disclosures were disclosed to Nunes?

But what about Trump’s tariff war? Would that move the needle?

Thank God I don’t live in his district any more. He makes my current Rep., Martha McSally, look like Elizabeth Warren.

Of course this is going on. Republicans have gone all in on treason these days. That’s the first thing that came to mind when I read this story. They are so evil and predictable at this point.

C’mon now. She was a

stood up to Muslim laws.

What’s not to like?

(And if Barber had a personality, he would have trimmed her down to nubbin.)

Nunes will be very tough to beat in the central valley. For the time being, I’d settle for making him irrelevant by flipping the house.

Exactly. That was my first thought as well. Nunes disclosed classified information live on CSPAN. It doesn’t get more definitive than that.

Calm down. There is only one rule.

But, it applies only to Democrats.

Or indicting him.

Surveiling reporters. I hope it was worth it for national security and not just because Dear Leader got embarrassed by a leak.

@rickjones. Yes, very much related, according to Rachel.

OT but related…

In connection to the staffer being investigated it has become apparent that a reporter’s email and phone were secretly surveilled without her knowing.
This is serious in that it contravenes the 1st amendment very clearly.

edit to add
I didn’t see that @rickjones had already posted the story. Somebody needs to go to jail over this and it better not be a reporter.

Ron Barber lost that election by 167 votes (McSally’s first I think) if I recall correctly. McSally is not really a centrist as she casts herself. I see her as a right winger who is a trump supporter. One other characteristic I have noted…she takes about 3-4 months to reply to an email or snail mail. Years ago when my Congressman was Mo Udall (yeah, I have lived in Tucson a long time) he replied to letters rather rapidly. He even showed up at my door one time to talk to me. My local state senator, Steve Farley, who is running for governor of Arizona also stopped by my home when he was out on the stump for votes to be a state senator. That kind of interaction gets my interest and may get my vote.
