Discussion: CNN Denies Report That Lewandowski Was Suspended Over Trump Payments

I’m guessing Corey was suspended for being far too laughable, even for the Comedy News Network,

I heard that CNN was upset that he auditioned for the remake of Max Headroom without prior permission.

Whether you call it severance pay or being on the payroll, that is irrelevant. Bottomline, I think the Trump organization pulled a fast one (again). Basically, CNN is making an illegal in-kind contribution to the Trump campaign

What this really shows is the state of American journalism when the “non partisan network” CNN is putting on its impartial news coverage as a paid CNN consultant a person who is also under contract by Trump to be a shill/hack for $20,000 a month. I do not need to see the contract between Trump and Lewandowski to know that it has one clause that requires Lewandowski to shill for Trump and another that prohibits Lewandowski from saying anything bad about Trump.

It would be quite normal for the severance pay to depend on non-disparagement, even if this weren’t Trump.
At a minimum, CNN should not have hired Lewandowski with the Trump campaign owing him money. Trump’s friend Jeff Zucker is just doing Don a favor.

Yeah CNN you have as much credibility as Trump.

Yeah, because no one expects CNN to do the right thing.

Totally agree.

Josh is wrong to defend Lewandowski with: He apparently has a contract that entitles him to severance payments through the end of the campaign, despite being canned a few months ago. He apparently told CNN about this.

Unless CNN has seen all active agreements between Lewandowski and any Trump-related organization, and has found nothing in them that would restrict Lewandowski’s comments about Trump, the “apparent” existence of a severance arrangement excuses nothing.

Given the Trump record of stiffing people, especially those that don’t please him, centralasiaexpat is correct to knock CNN for hiring Lewandowski before severance was paid in full.

CNN deserves all the blame for hiring Lewandowski under the circumstances, but I still want to kick Corey in the shins for staining the name of the great Bayern Munich footballer, Robert Lewandowski.

The One that needs to be suspended and Fired is Jeff Zunker, he’s the one who’s responsible and is a supporter and ties to Trump going back to the days Zunker was at NBC and hired Trump for celebrity apprentice.

How many times will CNN be scammed by Trump before they figure it out? They’ve got to be the dumbest fucks on the planet. It wasn’t until last week that they finally began to scratch their heads and uneasily say “Heyyyyyyy …”

Meanwhile, Trump says “Thanks chumps! Keep it up! You’re paying my campaign surrogate so I don’t have to, and when I insult your network, you bend over and ask for more.”

Agree as well. Severance payments in and of itself should have been a deal breaker for the reasons you have given.

Better late than never, though I suppose they’ll get Ann Coulter to replace him…because it’s CNN.

You have to concede at least one thing to Lewandowski. He was smart enough to get a job on CNN where he could continue to support Chiselin’ Trump with high visibility. If he hadn’t done this, do you think that Chiselin’ Trump would have made good on any of the severance payments? No way! Lewandowski would have been just one more in a long line of Chiselin’ Trump’s suckers.

Does having a guy on the air as a regular who is also a paid shill for the Trump campaign require CNN to have on a paid spokesman for the Hillary campaign so as to provide equal time under the law?

WELL HE F-ING SHOULD BE…there as bad as Fox News

And the only ethically right thing to do now, is to fire Lewandowski AND Jeff Fucker.

“the network found out that Lewandowski was still being paid by the Trump campaign, separate from his severance package.”

CNN spokeswoman Barbara Levin said in a statement to TPM that Corey is not suspended and will be on the air today.

Thanks for clearing that up, CNN. I have so much more respect for you for putting CL back on the air as a political analyst after confirming that he is still being paid by one of the candidates.
