Discussion for article #226651
This is shocking! As in Casablanca shocking.
Itâs like these people have never dealt with a cop (or NG or military) before.
If you live in NYC or Chicago, you might be surprised what the rest of the Country is like. Otherwise, not so much.
Oh, I dunno. Scratch a Chicago cop, and youâll find a Bull Connor underneath likely as not.
I just find it funny that all of this is happening to Mr.Lemon after his comments in which he has smacked down the black community. Itâs almost as if heâs never experienced racism before and has only heard of it in textbooks.
Some random national guardsman says something that, from his POV, is true. He has been sent to police a people whose cultural signals he canât read well. So âyou never know what theyâre going to do.â Heâs assuming the white producer heâs talking to is similarly deaf and blind to the signals of the other culture.
The same thing can be said from the other side of any cultural divide, and when thereâs a threatening situation in both directions, the words are often going to be offensive. Yet the words arenât the problem. The violence should be shocking. Particularly the violence by those in authority. Not the language. Not for a word as common as that.
It is completely unacceptable for anyone who has authority to demonstrate such a disrespect for a whole group of people because of the color of their skin. It is especially reprehensible when that person who is acting does as an integral part of their official duties. I have fired folks for using that kind of language in the work place. That National Guards person was working, his or her actions are unacceptable under all circumstances.
The fact that those in the media act in a naive manner is a distraction from the core issue.
Poor Don Lemon: #TheStruggleJustGotReal
Completely unacceptable. The person would have been discharged, after spending time in the brig, in my unit.
It bespeaks an anointed âauthorityâ who feels they have already lost. I can only wonder at the disrespect we displayed to those in the middle east. No wonder the US world image is trashed.
Iâm not saying that itâs OK or that itâs acceptable.
I also donât think itâs OK or acceptable for a cop to pull over an attractive woman just for the sake of getting a better look at her.
But being surprised by either is either naive or disingenuous.
From my experience with such types Iâll also take a guess and assume that Lemonâs producer (a he-doucer or a she-doucer) was white. As such, the NG guy thought he was in the âright companyâ and could say such things.
Come live in the South for a bit. The assumption, by basically everyone, is that if youâre white youâre just fine with this kind of stuff. I mean, why wouldnât you be? Youâre white.
Knock me over with a feather. Racism doesnât stop with a badge or a Kroger name tag.
It is time to set up voter registration booths in Ferguson, MO. Even after dark, some of those folks circulating can be carrying clipboards.
I donât care if it is too late for this election, they can also identify already registered voters as they sign up new ones, and get them to turn some of that righteous indignation into voter activism.
The voting history of Ferguson is typically abysmal⌠The entire white City Council and Mayor ran unopposed last time around, despite a 60% black and otherwise ethnically diverse majority.
The cycle of futility these people feel is not uncommon anywhere in America, there are so many Americans who have been bullied out of the process by those already entrenched, and Ferguson represents the worst form of it.
TURN THIS RAGE INTO VOTES!
If it is true that Ron Johnson, the Highway Patrol chief who helped defuse the situation and has been leading by example, is a legal resident of Ferguson, then they need to start a write-in campaign to get him elected Mayor, and that would begin to topple the all-white house of cards these posers have imposed upon the people of Ferguson.
Just the sordid history of how that City Council and police force have used traffic stops of mostly blacks to generate almost HALF the city revenues should in itself be worthy of intense investigation, and suggests there may be more skeletons dancing in those closets than anyone ever imagined.
That entrenched status quo at the top of city government obviously got very comfortable violating the rights of their own citizens for fun and profit, and those records are hard to erase. When they decided to use the citizens of Ferguson as a stop-and-ticket cash cow, they probably never imagined theyâd be subject to the white-hot media microscope they now suffer scrutiny under.
Holder also needs to get a Federal Judge to order Ferguson to protect those records from destruction, because simple logic dictates, as the scrutiny begins to come down on this little village, the miscreants who have managed it for decades may grow desperate to cover their tracks.
Iâd bet the shredders are already humming at the Ferguson City Building.
The âNational Guardâ didnât say anything. Just another case of TPM
posting another sensational click-bait headline. Unless itâs a an
official statement from the governorâs office (heâs the commander
of the National Guard in his state), the statement was from a
ânational guardsmanââŚie a guy who sticks that uniform on 1 weekend
a month and two weeks a year. But that wouldnât make for as
exciting a headline now, would it?
The attitude of that National Guardsmen is why a black man could get shot for reaching for his wallet to show his I.D. âyou never know what these N****** are going to doâ
Itâs not just the South. Iâm from S. California originally, and itâs the same thing. Once the doors close and itâs deemed âsafeâ, rhetoric regarding race and economic status devolves at the speed of light.
Wait a minute. A CNN producer is a journalist, right? Why not give the personâs gender, and name, and put this person on camera? This is double, secret hearsay from a guy who wondered on air earlier this year if the disappearance of a Malaysian passenger jet was due to supernatural causes.
I donât have a hard time believing that a guardsman used an n-bomb. I just have a hard time believing anything a charlatan like this guy says - especially if he even refuses to disclose even the gender of the journalist who heard it. What does Lemon think, the National Guard is going to storm CNN headquarters?
CNN is just as bad as Fox News, except slightly more centrist. All cable news is sh_t and shouldnât be watched or taken seriously.
Iâm willing to bet it was a she-doucer and the guardsman thought he was scoring points.
Shocking, SHOCKING I tell you.
A White, National Guard Member in Missouri is using the âN-Wordâ?!?!?!?!
Oh, Your, God.
