A Trumpster - Russia connection?

Is it just me, or is this guy a tad overweight?

Really. I hate to be blasé about a degree of traitorous betrayal that’s really unparalleled in history, but JFC let me know when one of these sons of bitches isn’t working for Putin. Sure is nice to see them all getting smoked out, I’ll say that, though.

He’s carrying about 15 pounds of excess fat just in his face. Hamsters point and laugh.

I’m afraid I don’t see the problem. Everything he says is firmly grounded in agricultural science.

So.

The Russians, for all intents, installed Clovis on the Trump team??!

This should be the front page piece rather than Norm Coleman.

ETA it now is.

It’s important to note that the right wing fetishization of Putin began in Obama’s second term. I recall some Fox News clips with Sarah Palin and others gushing over Putin as a big f.u. to Obama. It grew out of the racist, revanchist anger that drives the GOP.

In Clovis’ case, we see something much more sinister. We see that Putin’s FSB planted seeds of discontent all through GOP circles and by 2014-15 a lot of news that appeared in right wing sites was sourced or planted there through RT, Sputnik and other RU Intel generated propaganda. There were signs of this back in the late 90s when Fox was ridiculing Clinton’s intervention in Bosnia and was all but siding with Milosevic, he the master of ethnic cleansing who ended up in prison.

Putin took his lessons from that and went on an all out campaign to sow divisions within the US and to cultivate the extreme right. Clovis was one of those guys. What he is reciting here is the type of talking point cut out that Putin and FSB would’ve spread throughout conservative media. Clovis, far from being a misfit, seems to have brought an ideological view to support an expansive Russian foreign policy. He was part of the team that would help convince the GOP establishment, particularly the tea party wing, to abandon hawkishness and embrace Russia. Recall that the Crimea invasion happened shortly after the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Russia was telegraphing what it intended to do in Ukraine and cultivating relations with the far right would be a way to consolidate those gains.

I thought Clovis was talking about Ukraine:

“They have vacillated . . . not knowing exactly where their allegiances should lie.”

I said much the same in another thread!

I’m sorry. Is it just me or did he just admit that the KGB turned him back when he was in the Air Force?

How on earth does the pro Russia message play with the salt of the earth Midwest?

I remain shocked this crowd completely head faked the R’s.

Geez. I’m exhausted

The connection itself is not surprising. More important is that clip was from 2014. Perfectly fits into the timeline of Putin’s plot.

I really don’t know if Clovis supports Russia. I just think he ATE Russia.

Ned Beatty would be perfect as Sam Clovis in a movie version of ‘Russiagate.’ I hope he doesn’t object to gaining a couple hundred extra pounds to play him.

Let’s just say that any time he walks into a gym, the Stairmasters run out the back door.

My understanding is that JFC must always be served in a basket, with disposable towels. Adding chutney results in excommunication.

Hamsters may laugh, but gerbils swoon.

I hear Jimmy Hoffa’s buried under one of his 357 chins!

As news about the depth and length of collusion with foreign oligarchs increases so also must the Trumpist/Republican desperation and will to discredit the Mueller investigation increase. It would not be enough to end it either: to weaken resistance and the will to fight back, every person connected to it and those who might endorse it (including congress) must be discredited in some way too.

Largely off topic, but the investigations desk has been doing some really great work. Glad, maybe even proud?, to be a subscriber when it helps make this kind of work possible.
