Does this mean that Hillary has the momentum now?
No, according to most Bernie supporters it show Bernie is making progress. That’s two more people than knew him six months ago!/s
Snark tagged just in case.
Every win is a win. Congrats to Hillary and Hillary fans.
And as pissed as I (still) am right now over her astonishing Reagans-as-heroes-of-the-AIDS-crisis remarks, I will STILL say this:
#####[Standard Disclaimer: This commenter wishes it to be known that in November he or she plans to vote for the Democratic nominee, whoever that turns out to be, and will encourage their fellow primary candidate supporters to do likewise.]
Every delegate counts. 4 closer to the nomination.
She’s had the momentum since the voting began.
On to St. Croix!
On to St. Louis.
Good heavens, she was clearly casting about for ANYTHING she could said nice about the Reagans and got her mental wires crossed for a moment. Can’t forgive her?? She clearly had the stem cell research in mind.
Actually, from before it began.
No, she didn’t just accidentally say “AIDS” instead of “Alzheimers” or something like that. She told a whole little counterfactual story:
“It may be hard for your viewers to remember how difficult it was for people to talk about HIV/AIDS back in the 1980s. And because of both President and Mrs. Reagan, in particular Mrs. Reagan, we started a national conversation, when before nobody would talk about it,” she said."Nobody wanted to do anything about it.
“And, you know, that too is something that I really appreciate with her very effective low-key advocacy, but it penetrated the public conscience and people began to say, hey, we have to do something about this too,” added Clinton.
Bullshit. The Reagan administration was shamed into finally talking about the issue, a tiny bit, after years of staff members literally laughing it off when asked by reporters. The “national conversation” was already underway for years, and tens of thousands were already dead, before Reagan was finally willing to even speak about it. And still, his administration did next to nothing.
To be clear, I am sure it was an honest mistake by Hillary. She must have heard this counterfactual narrative somewhere, and latched onto it, and didn’t recognize the lunacy of it because, apparently, she must not have been paying any attention to the issue at all back in the 80’s (no one who was could ever make this mistake).
According to this, she got 9 delegates and Bern got 2:
I read that too, but that is not accurate.
After the caucus, Clinton received 4 pledged delegates, Sanders received 2 pledged delegates. There are 5 “soft unpledged delegates” (aka super delegates) from the Islands:
4 who are part of the Democratic National Committee members
1 who is a member of Congress, Gregorio Sablan (who has endorsed Clinton)
So there remains 4 super delegates from the Islands who have not endorsed anyone yet.
Well, with the Marianas in, it means Hillary has clinched it. Of course, the media will downplay it, like they do with all Clinton victories. I said it was over when Hillary won Nevada. Anyone who thinks otherwise is smoking something.
You know what they say, “As goes the Northern Mariana Islands, so goes American Samoa.”
Who won the Southern Mariana’s? Joke…haha
What do these people know that the Michiganders didn’t? Sort of serious.
This is a little slower creep to the nomination than was expected, with the coronation and all, but Hillary is still outpacing the Bern and making his path tougher with each round of voting.
At some point, the math won’t work for Bernie and I’m hoping that once he hits the point of no return, he’ll graciously bow out and acknowledge the imminent necessity of electing a Democrat and reaping all of the spoils.
This one is huge, this one is is a must, this one comes with triple bonus points. This one will snap the Republican Party’s metaphorical back!
Hillary 2016.
and we want Sanders in the cabinet or in a major position within the Party that he now belongs to.
Meanwhile Bernie is kicking butt with the democrats abroad primary. He has won 44/45 cities. The only city Hillary won was Singapore, where a Hillary staffer was controversially allowed to address the voters. It is very telling. People who are unaffected by media here tend to vote differently.
This is more delegates. 13 pledged + 8 unpledged. Even though voting finished mar 8, results will be released only Mar 21. See wiki page on democrats abroad primary
So close to being magnanimous, but you just can’t help but get in a little dig.
fivethirtyeight has the best list for the delegate count. What they also have, which I like, are the delegate targets for each state (how many delegates the candidate needs in each place to stay on track for the nomination). Hillary’s at 113% of her target. And they don’t include super delegates in their count, which is good for those among us who go apoplectic at the very word. Anyway, she needed to win 3; she won 4. Is it that big a deal in the grand scheme of things? Probably not. But every pledged delegate matters in a close race.
