Discussion: Clinton: 'Too Many Black Families Are Mourning The Loss Of A Child'

Discussion for article #241665

Standard to justify police shooting = fear

The overwhelming majority of white people in America have an irrational fear of black people. Couple that with an overwhelming white police force, and the result is

Shooting scary darkies = justified

Well, there goes the rage-fuelled, racist cop vote . . .

Man, Sanders has really gotten Hillary to go lefty on racial and economic matters.

Hopefully she stays there.

Clinton was always further to left of Sanders on racial issues and speaking to minority issues by virtue of the fact that unlike Sanders, she actually had a sizable population of minority constituents. If anything, I think the Obama presidency, specifically watching the GOPā€™s racial meltdown in response, and the way minorities have felt as a result has had a far bigger impact than a candidate (Sanders) minorities are so far overwhelmingly rejecting.

I also think she realizes her path to the nomination and to the WH will require a strong GOTV effort among minority voters. Frankly, other than Obama, I really canā€™t remember another viable presidential candidate who has ever done more minority outreach than Clinton is doing now. I donā€™t think that has anything to do with Bernie Sanders.

Actually I am not surprised by this Tweet. It fits Hillary to a tea. The only surprising thing is her advisors didnā€™t talk her out of it.

Why would her advisers try to talk her out of supporting the family of a 12 year old who was murdered while innocently playing with a toy in the park? Whether or not one believes the officer acted justifiably according to the the circumstances and with the knowledge he possessed at the time, it canā€™t be argued that Tamir deserved to be shot. This is a no-brainer.

I think that is correct: South Carolina, Nevada CNN polls find Clinton far ahead.

Iā€™d like to think that Secretary Clinton reached out personally to the family, in addition to a Tweet.

Precisely. In TPM and elsewhere on the 'net,Iā€™ve been saying for months that Bernie cannot generate the type of youth, minority and female turnout that BHO did. Stuff like this is gonna kill Bernie in the 'burbs too:

ā€œWhose track record for the last 25 years has been to say to Wall St., ā€˜You know what? We are going to have to break up the large financial institution.ā€™ā€

And the whiny, we put our lives on the line every day, vote.

Her advisers are very risk adverse. They might easily think this tweet could be a net loss for her.

I think the reports supporting the shooting are bullcrap. Iā€™ve seen the video. Rice was shot almost immediately that the cop car stopped moving. The officer had not exited the car or made any attempt to ascertain what was going on before he shot.

@Meri If anything, Hillary has been pulling Sanders to the left on racial matters and gun control.

The South Carolina polls also get incredibly ugly for Sander once you start looking at the cross tabs, particularly with Black voters.

He might do well in NH, but he is going to get creamed on Super Tuesday.

Basically, the prosecutor was shopping for expert witnesses. He found a couple that provided a very narrow view to base their findings. They disregarded everything that happened before the cop opened his door, and just assumed the situation started then. Obviously, thatā€™s an incredibly absurd starting point, and goes to show that the DA is negligent. Its not his job to get the accused off, its his job to get an indictment.

I see, and I would agree if the Tamir Rice killing wasnā€™t so obviously a tragedy, and thatā€™s whether or not one faults the cop. I get your point, but I think this is one thatā€™s a lot safer than it might seem.

Seeing her poll numbers in NV and SC convinced me that Biden isnā€™t gonna run. I was pretty sure of it already.

If a grand jury is not shown the whole fabric of what happened then itā€™s nothing more than a goddam whitewash. In my opinion. One could argue I donā€™t have all the facts. I was basing my reaction on what I saw in the video of the incident. The boy was shot before the cop got out of the car and that right there raises serious questions as to WTF happened and why the police acted that way. What sensible cop drives up within feet of a potential shooter? Could they not park in a way that protects them and lets them yell ā€œDROP THE GUN!!ā€? before opening fire? Two seconds is not long enough to know what is going on. ā€¦ Unless the intention was to go in guns blazing and mow down all available humans. And after the shooting when family members showed up they were arrested (Tamirā€™s sister) for questioning the copā€™s behavior.

" Police say the officers were responding to a call about a man with a gun, but were not told the caller said the gun could be a fake and the man an adolescent " .
