Trump Supporters: We rather vote for Whiter America.

The candidates’ closing arguments.

“It is in your hands. And when your kids and your grandkids ask what you did in 2016 when everything was on the line, I hope you’ll be able to say: I voted for a better, stronger, fairer America.”

HO:

“Hillary is a criminal!”

It is actually starker than WWII

WWII had many moments…Midway, Stalingrad, D-Day…etc. Each moment was a series of stark events. This is one shot.

David Frum (Republican) put it this way:

He voted for Hillary because he believed that Hillary was a patriot in the sense that she believes in the institutions of government and rule of law in the United States. Trump does not. And if we hand to him the leadership of those institutions he does not remotely respect, we doom ourselves and likely the rest of Humanity.

I fear it will always be “make or break” elections from here on unless Republicans get the everloving sh!t kicked out of them. Unless a very, very clear message is sent to them by the people, they will continue with their broken government method of governing.

The “stage an Intervention” line was great, you could tell she really meant it, and not in a particularly self-serving way.

It’s a make or break moment all right, in that the future of democracy, and the American democratic culture is at stake here–and I wonder why Hillary won’t come out and describe the reality. There is a school of thought that maybe Trump can be controlled. Here’s why that’s wrong:
Trump’s success to date has not been brought about by his political skills or goals but his consistent breaking of one political norm after another. This thrills his followers. If installed in the White House, it would make no sense for him to ‘pivot’ to a democratic, incremental, results-oriented modus operandi, even if he were capable of it, which he isn’t. The only thing that will make sense is the continuation of his norm-breaking, but this time the norms in question will be presidential and democratic and constitutional norms. The question becomes, what would that look like? The answer: conduct that would formerly have been deemed an abuse of power. If a Supreme Court decision goes against him, he will attempt to destroy the responsible justices. If he needs to co-opt the CIA or Justice Dept or FBI or IRS for private or political purposes, he will do so. If he doesn’t like a newspaper or TV station, he will use his office to go after them. If he makes a foreign enemy, he will try to destroy them, and here the nuclear nightmare beckons. The point being that the breaking of norms will be necessary for his political survival, since he cannot achieve success on for policy reasons. That is why he will be so dangerous. This guy can only flourish as a president if he behaves like an authoritarian, and he knows this very well. And there will be no effective institutional check on him since he would have Congress and the Supreme Court in his pocket.

In discussing the cold war it has been said the we all survived because the Soviet general loved their grandchildren more than they hated us … but when looking at the battles with Middle Eastern extremists it is fears that no such restraint would be in play -

It appears that what is now the “Republicans” are cut from the same cloth as the extremists - in the pursuit of exclusively what they see as priorities they are willing to take down the whole world - all the while blaming everyone else - until it all fades to darkness -

That works for me.
