Discussion: Clinton Says She’s Certain No Damaging Emails Will Be Released Before Nov

Uh, oh. At least she should have said, “I’m sure no damaging emails that are authentic will be released. I can’t speak about forgeries.”

At this point, it doesn’t even matter. All Madame President needs to do is sit back and watch the Drumpfster Fire burn.
Maintain your lead, no gaffes, and have the DNC focus on the down ballot races.

“Assange fueled speculation that his organization is readying an “October surprise” document dump that could damage Clinton’s campaign.
He said Wikileaks is in possession of “significant” Clinton documents that work “unexpected angles” and would be published before November.”

Assange is priming the media pump here. Because the media will jump all over whatever they can to bash Clinton before Election Day. They are anxious for anything to put down Clinton to give Drumpf a chance. And per Chuck Todd they certainly won’t fact check whatever Assange feeds them.

Not really a surprise here, because there haven’t been any “damaging” emails released up to now either…

Not that that has stopped anyone from trying to convince us otherwise…

BENGHAZI!!!

“unexpected angles”

Surely it’s gonna be “unexpected” if Assange can make up any bullshit he likes and “leak” it.

The really nice thing here is when Hillary spells out her position, the Republican heavies respond with silence.

Given the right wing’s ability to make stupid shit up, making declarations like this is a mistake. Instead say, “I am sure that Trump and Judicial Watch and all their friends out there will make something out of nothing like the AP did with my meeting with my friend of 30 years, but I know that I did not allow outside forces to influence my job or my decisions as Secretary of State. I did what was right for the United States and only the United States at every juncture.”

Send that to the campaign. Seriously.

Yes. I would have preferred that response, particularly since we’re now reduced to “emails were released” or “meetings were held” or “conversations occurred” equates to a legal conviction, if one were to go off the breathless - dare I say “reckless” - reporting of each.

There’s something about Assange that makes me think he wouldn’t actually wait to release anything really “damaging.” He’s already released the worst of it and is thinking up ways to make the menial things he’s releasing later a bigger deal than they are.

Read an article about a month ago where Assange was being interviewed and was spouting off about this, can’t remember where, but he’s quite naive with respect to American politics. He was clearly conflating the DNC and the Clinton Campaign.

Her response is typical of how she speaks about issues, wonky, serious, detailed, and in clearly articulated defense of long standing practices. She evidently doesn’t understand that when you go on shows like Joe and Mika’s you bring an aggressive agenda and talk only of your opponent and what he’s doing wrong and talk over the host.

Assange said the other day he would include emails from the 15K the FBI uncovered. As if (1) the FBI had handed them to him and (2) those emails based on which the FBI reached the conclusion of no indictment included something damaging.

The guy is (sorry to state the obvious) a bullshit artist. We should treat anything from him from now on as made-up or altered per Russian interests.

Right…what’s to stop Assange from fucking faking one? The Russians pay pretty good I’m guessing.

The FBI has looked at the 15,000 emails too…and FOUND NOTHING. It’s kind of getting comical to me at this point.

Assange has nothing. Seriously, you think given his track record, he would hold back something juicy if he had it? He is priming the pump for relevance.

I take all this to mean that in fact Clinton’s private server was not hacked. Because if it had been, that would have been fed to him by his Russian overlords, Clinton’s server that Comey said had surely been hacked, although there was no evidence of this, is going to go down in history along with Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction. (The pun about the emails being weapons of mass distraction is so old it has gray hair, so I won’t bring that in…)

OMFG TPM. Your headline suggests that there may be damaging emails out there, but that they won’t get released before election day. That’s not what she said.

Unfortunately, more emails which could be spun as damning would count as a gaffe and I am surprised at her easy refutation of their existence. I hope this does not come back to bite her. (And let’s hope Donald keeps up the crazy!)
