Discussion: Clinton References Her Methodist Faith After Trump Questions Her Religion

She’s looking good. Toned down the bouffant hairstyle and wearing more tailored attractive clothes. You go Madam (Grandmother) President

Methodist, huh? Trump was right, then. Compared to Krishna, or Rastafarian, that’s not ā€œout thereā€ at all.

O Mighty Lord Satan, BY WHom aLL THINGs are SET FREE, I cast myself INTO THINe arms and place myself unreservedly UNDER tHY protection. Visit justice AND venGANCE upon those WHO seek my destruction. PLEase ACCEPT THis Aborted CHRISTIan FETUS as a SACRIFice.

Who gives a shit what religion somebody is? I would be more likely to trust a Pastafarian before any other denomination. Ramen.

I wish we could have a Couric-like interview of Trump where, out of the blue, she/he asks him about the basic tenants of his religion. I can assure you that he hasn’t the slightest clue what Presbyterians think or believe. Donald needs to be called out as the sham he is but I worry that we no longer have any journalists in this country who are not the bought and paid for mouthpieces of their corporate overlords…

Donald Trump calls Pope Francis ā€˜disgraceful’ and says Vatican will be attacked by Isis

"For a religious leader to question a person’s faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian and as President I will not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened, unlike what is happening now, with our current President. No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith. They are using the Pope as a pawn and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so, especially when so many lives are involved and when illegal immigration is so rampant.

She’s knocking it out of the park. I’m listening to her speech now, I’m procrastinating though, 'cause I have to go to the Secretary of State’s office to get new tags…and anything is better than that. But she really does have some sharp attacks, straightforward ideas, and policies worth taking into consideration. Deal me in too Hillary…I gotta go now and take a number…and sit with other similarly looking dejected plebes and peons.

This was a strong speech for several reasons. First, she recommended specific policies in clear, strong language. Second, she categorized all of the insane Trump accusations from this morning in a simple way - ā€œI must be getting under his skin. He resorted to personal insults because he doesn’t have any serious policy proposals to present or defend.ā€ How can Trump reply coherently to that? I know Trump’s diehard supporters won’t care, but the juxtaposition of these two speeches has to make some undecided voters uneasy with the idea of a Trump presidency.

I too would be more likely to trust someone who has been touched by his noodly appendage. Ramen.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Landover Baptist posts: ā€œYou’re aunt is a Methodist? Well, I hope she’s figured out a method for floating on a lake of fire, because that’s where she’s headed!ā€

He also was confused by the communion plate at a church service in Iowa earlier this year, pulling out bills because he thought it was time for the offering.

Trump–and all around devout Christian.

Sadly, he exemplifies the very finest of evangelical ideals.

I’ve been to many Methodist services when I was dabbling in religion in my youth. Good people, caring community, a passion for securing the common good. But I didn’t fancy the grape juice at communion.

Blasphemy! I take it you flew right back to the Greek Orthodox Church after that horror!

Episcopalian actually. I’ve lapsed. I’m agnostic and realized that I was only attending for ā€œthe good of the clanā€.

ā€œAs we Methodists like to say, do all the good you can to all the people you can in all the ways you can.ā€

Trump has a similar creed: ā€œDo unto others – as hard and fast as you can – before they even see it coming!ā€

Methodist on the left…Presbyterian on the right…in the Reformation Grudge Match of century!

Let’s get ready to rrrrrruuumble!
