Discussion: Clinton References Her Methodist Faith After Trump Questions Her Religion

Sheā€™s looking good. Toned down the bouffant hairstyle and wearing more tailored attractive clothes. You go Madam (Grandmother) President

Methodist, huh? Trump was right, then. Compared to Krishna, or Rastafarian, thatā€™s not ā€œout thereā€ at all.

Who gives a shit what religion somebody is? I would be more likely to trust a Pastafarian before any other denomination. Ramen.

I wish we could have a Couric-like interview of Trump where, out of the blue, she/he asks him about the basic tenants of his religion. I can assure you that he hasnā€™t the slightest clue what Presbyterians think or believe. Donald needs to be called out as the sham he is but I worry that we no longer have any journalists in this country who are not the bought and paid for mouthpieces of their corporate overlordsā€¦

Donald Trump calls Pope Francis ā€˜disgracefulā€™ and says Vatican will be attacked by Isis

"For a religious leader to question a personā€™s faith is disgraceful. I am proud to be a Christian and as President I will not allow Christianity to be consistently attacked and weakened, unlike what is happening now, with our current President. No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another manā€™s religion or faith. They are using the Pope as a pawn and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so, especially when so many lives are involved and when illegal immigration is so rampant.

Sheā€™s knocking it out of the park. Iā€™m listening to her speech now, Iā€™m procrastinating though, 'cause I have to go to the Secretary of Stateā€™s office to get new tagsā€¦and anything is better than that. But she really does have some sharp attacks, straightforward ideas, and policies worth taking into consideration. Deal me in too Hillaryā€¦I gotta go now and take a numberā€¦and sit with other similarly looking dejected plebes and peons.

This was a strong speech for several reasons. First, she recommended specific policies in clear, strong language. Second, she categorized all of the insane Trump accusations from this morning in a simple way - ā€œI must be getting under his skin. He resorted to personal insults because he doesnā€™t have any serious policy proposals to present or defend.ā€ How can Trump reply coherently to that? I know Trumpā€™s diehard supporters wonā€™t care, but the juxtaposition of these two speeches has to make some undecided voters uneasy with the idea of a Trump presidency.

I too would be more likely to trust someone who has been touched by his noodly appendage. Ramen.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Landover Baptist posts: ā€œYouā€™re aunt is a Methodist? Well, I hope sheā€™s figured out a method for floating on a lake of fire, because thatā€™s where sheā€™s headed!ā€

He also was confused by the communion plate at a church service in Iowa earlier this year, pulling out bills because he thought it was time for the offering.

Trumpā€“and all around devout Christian.

Sadly, he exemplifies the very finest of evangelical ideals.

Iā€™ve been to many Methodist services when I was dabbling in religion in my youth. Good people, caring community, a passion for securing the common good. But I didnā€™t fancy the grape juice at communion.

Blasphemy! I take it you flew right back to the Greek Orthodox Church after that horror!

Episcopalian actually. Iā€™ve lapsed. Iā€™m agnostic and realized that I was only attending for ā€œthe good of the clanā€.

ā€œAs we Methodists like to say, do all the good you can to all the people you can in all the ways you can.ā€

Trump has a similar creed: ā€œDo unto others ā€“ as hard and fast as you can ā€“ before they even see it coming!ā€

Methodist on the leftā€¦Presbyterian on the rightā€¦in the Reformation Grudge Match of century!

Letā€™s get ready to rrrrrruuumble!
