I am very disappointed in Mayor Roberts. Itās another display of fecklessness in this crisis. By asking presidential candidates to stay away, she is signalling that her city canāt walk and chew gum at the same time. She has the highway patrol and the NC national guard backing up CMPD on the streets. They can certainly handle a motorcade and event perimeter for a few daylight hours. How could she take Charlotte out of the mainstream of presidential politics in this election year? Very bad judgment.
On the other hand, the disastrous display of Gov McCrory at his press conference yesterday makes Roberts look like a master of control and brilliance.
