It was a great reply, and you know that answer was locked and loaded and ready to fire even before the debate started.
What Trump said will not affect his blue collar base. I’ve played poker games with construction workers and to be honest, how they talk is much worse than how Trump talked. Essentially those games were all about making everyone else laugh, and laughter came from saying the most offensive things so things go to extremes - but then again, I haven’t sat at a poker table with construction workers since the late 1980s. I’m sure thought that they will feel that the indictment against Trump for this stuff is an indictment against them, the way they think, and how they live their lives.
The rest of us, however, do not want to see such gutter talk from a president. Also, I will say the construction worker poker table is just talk, it’s meant to be offensive, they all had daughters, wives and mothers. Trump’s statements suggest that he actually did that stuff.
I think two things happened in tonight’s debate. First, I really think Clinton buried Trump once and for all. Trump did better, stylistically, than he did in the first debate, but that’s not saying much. In the first debate Trump came off as an unprepared petulant child. For this debate he came off as a better prepared unhinged lunatic. I don’t think he did himself any favors with anyone outside the Breitbart universe with his performance tonight.
The second thing that happened was that Trump firmly consolidated his base support. The Breitbarts who were watching tonight probably cheered every time he spoke. He’s reaffirmed his hero status with them and guaranteed that they’ll stick with him to the bitter end.
Anyone who is thinking Trump might drop out at any point before November 8 is sadly mistaken. The lines are drawn firmly in the sand now. Republicans are either with Trump or against him. Those who stand with them will incur the wrath of any decent moderate and those who are against him face the wrath of the Breitbarts.
I’m now predicting three things will happen on November 8th:
- Clinton will win by double digits in the popular vote and get at least 400 EC votes
- The Congressional elections will be a bloodbath for the Republicans
- I’m going to run out of popcorn.

But, please, keep in mind that it isn’t the language or the topic that’s the problem. Trump is saying that he routinely sexually assaults women and gets away with it. I’m sure construction workers are like everyone else in regard to sexual assault; that is, they abhor it
I thought it was interesting how Trump referred to “THE African-Americans,” for whom he was going to do tremendous things. As though they lived on some different planet.
Mmm…color me skeptical that it was all talk, given the responses to this.
To reiterate what Commie said, it’s not that Trump is just lewd and uncouth (as I am assuming your poker buddies were being). It’s that he is advocating sexual assault, which is a violent crime, and bragging about how committing acts of sexual violence with impunity is one of your privileges if you’re a “star.” That is complete bullshit and, frankly, deplorable.
Why do you all think Trump skulked around the stage when Hillary was speaking?? Was he trying to intimidate Hillary, distract the audience, or get the camera to watch him rather than Hillary? I would be curious to know what others think.

A lot of states like South Carolina, Utah, Georgia and Texas may very well go blue this year on account of the “pussy grabbing” comment. That sort of talk disgusts a lot of the decent southerners and midwesterners. I don’t think Trump will recover from that in a lot of states he might have won otherwise.
Between Chuck Toad and MSNBC’s obsession with Kellyanne, I just had to exit there and won’t return until the next Rachel Maddow show.
After a weekend of following all the tape fallout and now hearing the debate, I just feel sickened, numb and exhausted. Most Trump supporters are going to take him at his word now, that it was just crude locker room talk, or they really just don’t care if he is a predator.
For most of the debate, they ended up treating him more or less like a normal candidate. It looks as if this thing might blow over for many.
Time for another bombshell. The tax story and the video didn’t do it. I know, he is likely going down to a sound defeat. But I want to see him destroyed.
For me about the trump tapes is this:
trump believes he is immune. Immune to consequences because he’s a celebrity and really really rich. In business he got banks and other investors to lose the money in a bankruptcy/loan default. He didn’t lose much. The billion he lost wasn’t out of his bank account. To him it was theoretical but he used it to not pay taxes for many years. It’s always the other guy who loses, not him. You don’t get that luxury in the Oval Office.
