Hillary was off the trail, raising money, for much of August. She is just coming back from her bout with pneumonia. Trump has been relatively gaffe-free for the past couple of weeks. Itâs natural that the race would have tightened.
Time to stay calm, keep the powder dry, take a deep breath and bend to the task of getting Hillary elected.
Time for everyone to get up off their happy butts and roll up their sleeves and get to work registering voters and energizing people to vote Hillary.
All that you say is true (except the relatively gaffe-free part), but what we are also seeing is the media putting a very big thumb on the scale in Trumpâs favor, but refusing to even touch actual news that is negative to Trump in anything comparable to their non stop âCanât Trust Hillary!â coverage.
Just consider their respective Foundations. I just saw David Gregory going on and on about how Hillary needs to shut down the Clinton Foundation because it looks so bad and she is untrustworthy. Not one word mentioned about Trumps Slush FuâŚerr, foundation.
And lets be really clear here. The press has dedicated hundreds of man hours into the Clinton Foundation and not turned up a single significant issue. She spoke to world leaders as SoS who also donated to the FoundationâŚwhich is precisely what a SoS is supposed to do.
Meanwhile, Trump has been caught making illegal donations via his foundation, has been caught using it to purchase luxury items purely for himself, has been documented numerous times using it for self aggrandizement completely with other peopleâs money and zero of his own. The worst being, not only claiming to make a $150,000 donation to the police in Palm Beach (none of which was his), but turning around and charging them over $230,000 for hosting the gala to pat him on the back in his hotel!
And I have yet to hear anybody on cable news make mention of all of this, let alone actually dive into the details.
Big story on Trumpâs business conflicts internationallyâŚa story that has quite literally been out there since the moment he threw his hat into the ring, and stillâŚnot a peep out of the talking heads.
And its having its effect. We can go back and look at when the big non stories from AP and the NYTâŚboth of which were eventually retracted or completely rewritten (but only after the damage had been inflicted) were dropped on the collective MSMâŚthatâs right when âThe Tighteningâ began. And they have been unrelenting in that style of coverage ever since.
They wanted a horse race, and by hell or high water, they set out to get one. Personally, I think its long past time for usto start delivering bloody horseâs heads into every one of the beds at night. Starting with that vile excuse of an ombudsman from the New York Times, Liz Spayd.
Keep telling your local editors and commentators about the disparities. They do react to complaints by readers/viewers.
11 days to a very significant point in the Campaign - count on some Trump generated high intensity turmoil in the week before - demands - threats to not participate - ultimatums - and if Trump can force one or two concessions - he will walk into the debate claiming that he has âalready wonâ. He will make an attempt to work his primary debate strategy - Anticipate Trump being bombastic - rude - disobedient - interrupting - & just run roughshod over Lester Holt - and carry on outrageously to - try to take Hillary off her game - make her look âmildâ / âmeekâ - and if he can stress her into a coughing spell he is going to go âhealth scareâ to her face.
First presidential debate

The first debate will be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on major topics to be selected by the moderator and announced at least one week before the debate. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a deeper discussion of the topic.
I think weâre pretty much at Trumpâs peak in this election cycle.
Coming off the DNC, Hillaryâs polls rose and were destined to trail off. Moreover, sheâs been off the trail due to an actual health issue, and I presume thatâs had an effect.
But Trump is still Trump. A raging bigot, racist, and misogynistâŚto say the least. I still have faith that enough Americans will see that only one candidate is actually qualified for POTUS, and it ainât him.
Still a long way to go.
Now is probably a good time for that âBetween Two Fernsâ appearance, Secretary Clinton.
Agreed, and a primetime special with Diane Sawyer or somebody like that. Plus, she needs to do press conferences almost daily. The rules are not the same and they will never be the same because vagina. So, sheâs got to play by the sexist, biased rules the MSM has set for her. That means disclosing everything, even minor stuff that should be private. Got a toothache, Hillary? Release it to the press. Overwhelm those clowns until they get bored.
I love your enthusiasm and desire to fight back but how do you do it and make a difference? Yes getting the word out locally and Voter Registration, is all great but, if the MSM, the ones that majority of people tune into for News/Information are (IMO) out to destroy Clinton, how do you compete?
They want a horse race now, followed by divided government after the elections.
2012 Election September Obama 46.9 Romney 44.7. October 14 Romney 48 Obama 47. The purpose of polling is to feed the media machine. That being said, to those on the neo-progressive far let who believe their vote for Jill Stein is a necessary protest, tell us what youâve accomplished if Trump gets elected.
Just who decides which voters are âlikely votersâ vs. registered voters? It seems to me that in the past polls that measured these âlikeliesâ almost all assumed that Republicans are more likely to vote than Democrats.
The issues is this: If Trump does not slobber all over himself the media will declare him the winner by virtue of the fact that he was able to step over the bar they laid on the floor for him.
Unfortunately that assumption is correct. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/02/29/republicans-are-voting-more-than-democrats-in-2016-will-that-matter-in-november/
some very salient points here http://www.salon.com/2016/09/15/its-already-happening-yes-trump-is-closing-in-on-the-polls-but-heres-why-thats-meaningless/
I disagree, the bar is not on the floor. Itâs buried somewhere underneath the basement.
Are we in a real life episode of Brain Dead?
DING DING DING!
Add to that, most reporting about polling doesnât even come close to covering the minutiae about HOW that poll was conducted and on whom. Youâll see any of the legit pollsters and most of the poll aggregators note lots of detail in this area so people can better understand who is being asked. They also talk about what questions are being asked.
This article? This is all it includes:
OkayâŚso they conducted the poll by phone. Land line? Cellphone? Both? This is important as phone polling tends to lean heavily toward land lines, even in this day and age when larger and larger majorities of people have moved to a cellphone as their primary contact.
1,433 registered votersâŚregistered for what party? 916 âlikely votersâ? Likely to vote for whom? Since most polling heavily oversamples to the GOP side, thatâs an important stat to know.
And what were the questions asked? Just who they intended to vote for, or was there something else?
Every day I get angrier at how lazy the media is getting.
Slowly, the pro-Hillary echo chamber is waking up to the nightmare they hoisted upon us by forcing Hillary upon us. She will get reliable Democratic votes, but she fundamentally lacks the ability to attract non-reliable democratic voters.
This is a nightmare and a disaster. And it didnât have to happen. The disenchanted, economically disenfranchised voter cannot bring themselves to vote for Hillary. Bernie would have proven acceptable to all the reliable Democratic voters AND had some appeal to the non-reliable. There is no emotion behind Hillary to help excite and get people out to vote. The youth, a natural Democratic vote group, hate Trump and Hillary and so many will likely stay at home.
The Hillary echo chamber was arrogantly dismissive of Sanders, but now it is going to take a minor miracle to prevent a very real, historical disaster only 8 years after the last disaster.
One upside, a Hillary loss will basically hand the party over to the Sandernistas.
All that being saidâŚfolks gotta breathe. Itâs important to stay focused and not go into panic (which the Dem party and Dems tend to do a lot of). This is one poll, in a timeframe where itâs been pretty clear the media has had the thumb on the scale for Trump in order to try and make him out not to be the total mouthbreathing buffoon he is. Theyâve set the bar so low they had to dig a trench for it.
But the reason I asked the questions about WHO they polled is that I continue to be very confident that the same vote blocs that brought it home for President Obama - twice - will do it again for Hilary. Sheâs got a ground game like nobodyâs business and it blows his right out of the water. That in and of itself is huge in the GOTV operations, and was the same for the Obama campaigns. Those same voting blocs, when someone has bothered to poll them, have been overwhelmingly supporting Clinton since the primaries began.
Iâm not worried about her ability to beat him. What I have been concerned about and remain concerned about is the vote suppression efforts the GOP continues to undertake to KEEP people from voting for her to beat him. THAT is where the rubber hits the road here. Also, if you think youâre registered but havenât actually confirmed that you are and you are in these battleground states? You better check. More and more stuff keeps trickling out about voter roll purges in GOP led states. So not only do you need to be your brotherâs keeper and get people registered and to the polls, you better make sure YOUR vote counts too.
