Discussion: Clinton: GOP SCOTUS Blockade Is 'Revealing The Worst Of Our Politics'

“Conservatives know exactly how high the stakes are. For years, they have used aggressive legal strategies to accomplish, through the courts, what they failed to accomplish through legislation,” Clinton said, pointing to lawsuits targeting Obamacare, measures to address climate change and Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

“Republicans in the Senate are acting like our votes didn’t count.”

Scalia made sure our votes didn’t count in 2000.

Why should Republicans in the Senate think our votes count now?

If Mitt were POTUS today, the GOP would be scrambling to confirm his nominee as quickly as possible.

I have to say this was the best speech I have heard in the elective period. She hit all the right points (Citizens United, abortion, the power of business-centric court actions, ACA, etc.), and called out (somewhat politely, as opposed to her Republican candidates) the politicians of obstruction. SCOTUS and other federal judge nominees are the lifeblood of our nation, and she really seemed to hit this one out of the park, although it did seem to lose some sharpness with the personal story at the end.

EXCELLENT speech … watch it, please.

More of this please. Toss in the need to overturn Citizens United as the key first step to getting the corrosive aspect of money in politics out of it, and that until that can be overturned, it is foolish for progressives to unilaterally disarm until that odious decision is overturned and real campaign finance reforms are put into law.

“Donald Trump didn’t come out of nowhere. What the Republicans have sown with their extremist tactics, they are now reaping with Donald Trump’s candidacy,” she said.

"I built the most UUUUUGGGGE Golf Resort in Nowhere! I have always been very very nowhere!

I have pictures of Heidi Cruz in Nowhere but it’s disgusting, I’m not going to talk about it. Very Very disgusting.

Ironically enough, there are Republicans who think a dead Scalia should have his vote count on SCOTUS…while depriving the majority of the country their vote for President Obama to count. Just ridiculous.

It’s reassuring to see her in this format, basically the Presidential format versus campaigning. She’s just really good at this.

This:

“As one of the more than 65 million Americans who voted to re-elect Barack Obama, I’d say my voice is being ignored right now because of their obstructionism!” she said. “You know, we chose a President. We chose him twice. And now Republicans in the Senate are acting like our votes didn’t count, and that President Obama is not still our nation’s leader.”

…And this right here:

“Donald Trump didn’t come out of nowhere. What the Republicans have sown with their extremist tactics, they are now reaping with Donald Trump’s candidacy,” she said.

…Is exactly why I’m with her!

Exactly!

Democrats need to learn vicariously from the GOTP. If they keep blaming (rightfully so) the obstructionist GOTP Congress for any and all shortcomings of the last seven years they too could find themselves in a future world of hurt.

After decades of sowing turd after turd, they’re finally reaping a whirlwind of raw sewage.

I hope they choke on it.

“When you leave here, I urge you to call the office of Senator Johnson, e-mail him, contact him, if he has a Facebook page, go on, express your opinion,”

And a genuine call to action! Bodes well for the next 4 years.

For God’s sake, Bernie, stop the campaign and join your forces with Hillary’s. If you continue to McCarthyize, Kennedyize, Naderize this election, we’ll end up with a Republican trifecta running the country, led by one of the most demented figures in American history.
Sorry Bernie Bros, but the Republicans will absolutely rip Sanders to pieces, with the only thing left maybe being a shadow of his wagging finger.

Excellent speech, Madame Pres … Former Senator from New York and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton!!

Very Presidential, I might add – and thank you for pointing out to the Republicans what they already know: We, the People of the United States of America voted Barack Obama our President TWICE and that he is still our President!

Seriously, assholes (that would be you, Republicans) we’re watching – and we’re keeping score. Enjoy your last year running the Senate.
