Trump: Why isn’t she Locked Up?
I listened to a little of this on the radio. It was hard not to think of what might have been, compared to what is.
I was of the belief that Mrs. Clinton would have been a great president, even better than Obama. Though I think this is true, I do not want her to run again in 2020. We have to move on and elect someone of the same stature, intellect and values, but without the years of smears, however unfair they were.
I agree, but I also want her to stay in the fight. I don’t want her to just go away. I want her to be out there reminding people of what could’ve been, and of what we lost. I want her to serve as a reminder as to why voting third party and not voting are painfully stupid choices. I don’t want to repeat 2016 and 2000 ever again. And we will if it isn’t drilled into the heads of Democrats that you don’t have a fucking temper tantrum because your chosen candidate lost. You put on you big girl/boy panties/manties and you vote Democratic up and down the ticket.
I approve of this speech.
I like her there too. She serves a stark contrast to the idiocy of the current occupant of the White House. I’m taking my family on a trip to Europe in a few weeks and I am nervous of reception we might receive. Brushing up on my French…
It may have been fiery, but I came away thinking, “she still doesn’t get it”. Wellesley is a bastion of white privilege. Why isn’t she addressing a university, a state university maybe, in West Virginia or Ohio?
I don’t know. Maybe it is just me, but she came across as smug, patrician and privileged.
It’s just you.
This is her alma mater. She gave a commencement address in 1969 when she graduated. This is a “coming home” for her and for me the symbolism was powerful.
Absolutely. She was the second-highest vote getter in presidential election history. She is an inspiration to the Resistence.
I too want her to stay in the fight. And now, she won’t have to worry about being too wonkish, too distant, too emotional, too calculating etc.
Second…
I voted for her, but really, right wingers are celebrating her return to the fight. It gives them a handy target. Move on, Hill. Where’s the hook?
She’s there because she is an esteemed alumna and she was invited.
She was invited, but her address was carried live on CNN, so there was obviously a wider audience. She can say what she wants. She can do what she wants. My point is she reinforced why the Democrats have trouble connecting with the disaffected voter.
The “disaffected voters” of West Virginia and Ohio have been voting for republicans for over four decades, a speech from any Democratic Party member isn’t going to change that. Especially a college commencement speech, as many of the “target Audience” that you’re saying she “isn’t getting” never have gone to, and are mistrustful of colleges to begin with.
Actually, West Virginia was a Democratic stronghold until 2000. Ohio swung either way until then, too. I think we need to reach out to the people who are underserved and on the fast track to a career at Walmart. Otherwise, get used to losing elections.
Actually, Trump voters are idiots who believed him and there was nothing we could have said that would have made any difference.
But you’re welcome to go take your progressive message out to the hinterlands and preach to the brain dead.
This is who they are: http://www.rawstory.com/2017/05/he-played-me-for-a-fool-kentucky-trump-supporter-laments-he-should-have-voted-for-hillary/
They are all on federal help - that’s who they are. They thought he’d take care of them.
Smell you! It is that “I’m SO much smarter than you” attitude that needs to change. Why would I preach to the brain dead in the hinterlands when there is plenty of it right here?
Does it occur to you that you can be progressive without being superior about it?
