Discussion: Clinton Defends Vote Against SCOTUS Noms: What GOP Is Doing Now Is 'Very Different'

Discussion for article #246198

Alito is a racist dweeb-face who “could not recall” being a part of The Concerned Alumni of Princeton. (You can guess they weren’t concerned about the homecoming parade).

Alito is on the bench.

What a complete bullshit comparison. The issue is not that the Republicans shouldn’t have the right to vote down the nominee, it’s that they should go through the process of holding hearings and taking votes because that is their fucking job. Or to put it another way, that’s the bare minimum the Constitution requires of them.

They want to vote down a nominee, maybe a second one as they run the clock out? Fine – it sucks, it’s irresponsible, it’s hypocritical – but that is their prerogative. But have the decency to give the nominee a fair hearing, and the guts to take a stand, take a vote, and be judged for it…but of course that is exactly what these political cowards are trying to avoid.

But way to go media, fishing for the closest substitute for a false equivalency when THE PRESIDENT HASN’T EVEN NOMINATED ANYONE YET.

She is 100% correct. There is a huge difference between voting against a nominee and refusing to allow anyone to be nominated. That anyone can’t see that is a mystery to me, and perhaps just willful blindness on their part.

Of course Secretary Clinton would support naming a candidate to replace ‘Stone Cold Dead’ Scalia…because…wait for it…wait for it…she had Scalia murdered!

Yup! It was only a matter of time:
Enter Rightie WooWoo extraordinaire Morgan Mayhew of ~snicker!~ of course and what else: “Liberty News”

[Just weeks ago, on January 26th, an
enthusiastic supporter in Ohio publicly asked Hillary if she would be
willing to name Barack Obama to the Supreme Court.
Her response?
Hillary responded with, “What a great idea . . . he is brilliant and
he can set forth an argument and he was a law professor. He has got all
of the credentials.”
[L]ike all evil plans, someone has to die to get the ball rolling.
Enter Antonin Scalia.
The vacationing justice was relaxing in an area so remote; his death certificate was signed over the phone.
Scalia’s own protection unit, the ever-present U.S. Marshalls, were
hours away only to find him dead with a pillow over his head.
To add even more speculation as to Justice Scalia’s death, no autopsy will be performed. […]
[I]n the world of the Clintons they somehow have managed to get away with murder and more for decades.
Murder you say? Yes . . . Benghazi . . . Waco.]

That’s right…she, by God, did Waco too…also! rotflmao

So…Now my President will be Supreme Dictator for Life and Supreme Court Chief Justice. I like it! Congrats Obama and Kudos Hill!

Republicans have no problem voting on repealing the ACA, knowing they’ll fail, but replacing a Justice? It’s simple, there are a good number of GOP seats that are up in the Senate, and they know a no vote will inflame Dems and a yes GOP voters - a lose/lose situation, and if they lose their jobs it will likely mean Bernie or Hil becomes president and has a senate majority. So, avoid and hope you might hold on to your seat. It’s all about jobs - theirs.

But Glenn Beck says God took Tony, and since Glenn and The Most High are tight like this, it couldn’t have been Hillary, or Obama. Unless…

It’ll be a quick, quiet hearing. About as many words spoken as a certain current Justice while hearing cases.

But wait, I’ve been hearing everyone say that Clinton will nominate someone just like Roberts. So clearly she must be lying as usual!!!1!

Breaking: Proof that Hillary, in a brilliant disguise, offed that fat bastard Scalia. Taken only a second before she smothered the corpulent judicial drooler, here’s a cell phone picture sneaked out of Marfa, TX at great personal risk and now provided to the world as indisputable proof that Hillary is “Killary”…and she offed Fat Tony! ____ Photo provided by Alex Jones, chief FOX investigative reporter and conspiracy buster.
(*Anthony Weiner, to the right, was there as backup. He was ready to shove ‘something’ down Scalia throat if Hill should fail.)

It was on the Web…so it has to be true!

Way to go Madame Secretary!

Of course Hillary voted against Alito - as well she should have. That is not the same as refusing to even hold a hearing on anyone before they are even nominated.

I had the misfortune to see the part if the Bush townhall tonight where the questioner asked how the senate should deal with this issue. When Bush said it should wait until the next president is voted into office “so the people get to decide” I watched the woman and others in the audience nodding their heads in rubber stamp zombie agreement like the last two elections never happened. WTF is wrong with these people?

Fearing I’d catch the spread of stupid from the TV, I changed the station just in time to see Hillary drawing nuance after nuance on issue after issue. (Edit She thoroughly explained both sides of the Apple vs. the Government case). English was the second language to many in Hillary’s townhall, but it was obvious they got nuance better than those attending the Bush fiasco, who appeared to speak only English.

To the contrary, no defense needed.

Remember his whiny spouse chiming in during his confirmation hearing. Quite a low moment.

of course Alito should not have been confirmed. Neither should Rehnquist, Thomas, Roberts…very few justices are clearly not right for the court.

Rehnquist was a known racist, Thomas a misognyst, Roberts and Alito particularly do not have the ethics.

So Hillary is elected and Democrats pick up NH, WI and IL senate seats. They’re not even smart enough to figure the best strategy for what they want.
