My favorite Hillary laugh was near the end of the Benghazi hearings. She was asked if she had been alone that night - all night?. She looked flabbergasted for a second, answered “Yes”, and then laughed while obviously considering other more interesting alternatives. The laugh was very loud and very very long.

The Republican Party’s gotta get blowed up real good, as John Candy used to say, before we can talk about anything that resembles sane, rational thought coming from there. If Trump is considered to be a rational choice by these people, or worse, if they think making an irrational choice is acceptable, then they have to not only get blowed up, they have to light the fuse and put the bomb where the moon don’t shine. Then maybe they’ll start thinking straight.

I’m with you. It’s amazing how people are so eager to embrace some characterization of a public figure – whether by the media or by political opponents – and apply that to everything that person does. For me, the moment of truth was back in the Carter years, where the media had decided that every thing he did was “too little, too late.” After the failed hostage rescue attempt, the NYC NBC television crew took to the streets to interview people and actually fed them the answer, asking “So what do you think? Too little, too late?”
I think Clinton has learned over the years that she has to be careful with her answers. An interview from the first Bill Clinton presidential campaign comes to mind, when Hillary – asked about her continued support for her husband – said "This isn’t ‘Stand By Your Man.’ " And I knew exactly what she meant, but she got pilloried for it. Someone even went to Tammy Wynette for a comment! (Tammy, of course, was outraged. OUTRAGED!)
I like the unguarded moments and the natural reactions, no matter who the candidate is, and it’s nice to see these moments where Hillary lets her hair down. But, of course, everyone who has embraced the demonization of Hillary will dismiss these things as the machinations of an evil, power-hungry woman.

Gotta differ with you a bit on Huntsman. He is indeed a rarity in modern Republican politics, sane and civil. But notwithstanding the media’s use of the word, mere sanity and civility don’t make one a moderate, and he’s conservative on policy, though the aforementioned sanity and civility keep him from being a favorite of the right. I also suspect that it’ll be the right’s voices that are more likely to be listened to a year from now – remember, Trump isn’t a “real conservative” (actually true in his case). So assuming he loses (amen), they may finally get the chance to run one in 2020. Which, if Dem voters can finally learn to turn out in non-presidential years, should finally give us the time we need to get this country solidly healthy again.

I will put Jon Huntsman in the same category as the Susan Sarandons out there – they are wealthy and isolated enough to likely ride out the shit-storm “revolution” that a Trump presidency would unleash on America and the world. Like Sarandon, Huntsman doesn’t really give a shit about us lessers. He sees this as a means to his end.

Well, I know what you mean, but think about this:
1-Huntsman was too sane to get the nomination from the GOP.
2-Trump knows he needs someone with governmental creds to help him actually govern
3-the GOP Establishment might actually think of Hunstman as a life raft
4-the typical Trump voters will vote for him, the other typical GOP voters will consider Huntsman as an excuse to go ahead and vote
5-the rest of the usual suspects know that Trump will likely lose, and don’t want to be anchored to him
6-Hunstman would know this is the ONLY way he would have a path to the WH and he is the only one who could help Donald get elected.
