Discussion: Clinton Cracks Up When Asked About Attending Trump's Wedding

What “issue?” The absurdity of finding oneself running for President of the United States – against Donald Fucking Trump? Laughing seems like a perfectly valid response to me.

Hell, I would have gone to Trump’s wedding 11 years ago if just to see the spectacle and people watch, because I like a good show.

Not so much now.

11 years ago Trump wasn’t talking about birth certificates, walls, Mexican rapists, banning Muslims, etc.

That handle alone deserves to be flagged already.

Thanks for posting that. It was indistinguishable though I played my recording back several times. Now I know why everyone roared. So, yes, ignore anything from Tapper, the former journalist who aspired to a career but instead took the money and ran.

I can. But really, think about it. Huntsman’s just 56, has a solid record of accomplishment, and has a future in politics he’d be nuts to throw away by teaming up with Trump. Anything’s possible but many things are improbable and Trump-Huntsman '16 is highly, highly improbable IMHO.

Not sure if you really want to see the vulgarity that was the trumpf/melania wedding, but I found this.

No one wants to run as trumpf’s Veep. Perhaps with the exception of Christie.

Hillary has a lovely smile and laugh, and I love these moments of genuine humanness from her. Little things come forth from her that you don’t see in other candidates, and I relate to it. In the 08 campaign, when she said she wished she had time to exercise. The laughter at the stupid alone-all-night question at the Benghazi circus show. The looks of exasperation at the same shitshow. Trump is a joke. Cruz is a horror. At this point, we need all the laughter we can get.

Huntsman basically said he’d support Trump if he got the nom?

So Huntsman is a gigantic hypocrite whose personal wealth will insulate him from the blowback of a Trump Presidency.

This is why the concept of Republican “moderates” is such a fucking ridiculous unicorn. When it’s time for the rubber to meet the road, they will reliably fall in line with the extremists who dominate the Party. They’re as useless as the proverbial mammary glands on a male ruminant ungulate.

Yet, presuming* there was at least one remotely relevant question in the entire interview, THIS is what TPM gives us.

[* Yes, I understand that presumption is a huge leap of faith.]

Should have said “I’d sooner have expected his foreign-born wife with the risque magazine photos to run for President than him.”

I’ll also admit to taking the tours of Hearst Castle…

Good lord, though, those pics were just what I would have expected.

While I’d not like a Republican of any stripe in the #2 position, I think it’s vital to the future of the US, the concept of classic unfettered American free speech and elections, that sane Americans come together to build a people and a nation fit to rule ourselves first but then more than 1 planet…

@mattinpa

All the Rs when they’re questioned say they will support the nominee ignoring the fact that they’ve just spent the last few minutes trashing him. I’m holding out hope that when they’re alone with their ballot they won’t actually do that.

The story of Marjorie Merriweather Post who built Mar a Lago and lived there is worth looking into. Even she as wealthy as she was could no longer afford it.

I wouldn’t object to touring Hearst Castle, but I’ve toured Windsor Castle, and it was a gas.

I will look into her.

Oddly enough the engineer/architect for Hearst Castle was a woman, too. It was mentioned on the tour and I promplty did go look her up.

I would find it hard to be in his position, but I can understand how he might want to just wait out the extremism, since it really seems like the situation is coming to a crisis. A year from now the moderate voices may have a lot more influence. I think I can agree with daveyjones that in the meantime, he might want to signal his overarching loyalty to the party, the way you show up for Thanksgiving dinner even if your family is pretty wacky—they’re still family. If he were more of a panderer he’d have fallen in line more, IMHO, but he chose to go wander in the desert.

In 2012, One Candidate Refused To Suck Up To Trump. Here’s Why : Jon Huntsman saw the Trump sideshow as everything he hated about politics.

“I thought I’d rather go down in flames than play that game,” Huntsman told “Candidate Confessional.” “It’s just not right. It’s not what the American people want. Yet everybody — I was so shocked — one by one they would line up and they would do it. And I just decided that I wouldn’t be part of it.”

But he is part of it after all.

There’s a Julia Morgan Theatre in Berkeley and I’ve been there to see some plays.
