The unidentified aide told the newspaper it makes sense that Pagliano, as a private individual, doesn’t want to participate in a “political spectacle.”
I believe the proper term is “witch-hunt.”

Maybe he could finally take the heat off Hillary.
And that Eye-talian name means he’s really shifty. 
OK, quick, tell us every single detail of something you did 5 years ago, knowing that some of the questions will be gotchas relying on interpretations of technical jargon that go completely contrary to common sense, and that if you get anything wrong you could go to jail. Oh, and even if you get everything right, that dozens of people will be standing up on national television arguing that you should go to jail anyway.

That said, this isn’t good for HRC. That’s NOT to say legitimately so.
I expect an offer of immunity from the Commitee, but not before days/weeks of making hay about it. I hope that he would then testify if given the immunity.
If not it plays to the secretive narrative built around HRC. This really could hurt her in the general election.
The narrative is BS, (just like the socialist dig at Bernie is) but since when has that mattered.
(edit: I’d add maybe sending an underling to jail would satisfy these assholes as they probably know the guilt by association is the most they can really hope for)

Her losing the nomination is the only thing that gets this heat off of her…
Taking down a Clinton means nothing to the GOP if they are not a political threat.
It’s smart of the HRC campaign to get this statement out this quickly.
Anybody who expects that there will some final blow that Clinton can deliver that will once and for all end this stupid witch-hunt are deceiving themselves. This isn’t a conventional set-piece war—it’s a well-financed guerrilla campaign being waged by the GOP, and even if they don’t win a single meaningful victory against superior forces, they can and will continue sniping, laying IEDs, and assassinating where possible for the foreseeable future. Even if she’s elected President, these assholes won’t quit, unless the Dems take both houses back.
This means that the Clinton forces have to be prepared to fight these guys on their turf from time to time, with the goal generally being just avoiding serious self-inflicted damage. Many guerrilla wars go on for years, and this is probably no different.

Why would the offer immunity? They know that the guy that did the server install has absolutely nothing pertinent to add. It was merely a fishing expedition aimed at disrupting and making as many lives close to Hillary as miserable as possible. Having him plead the 5th does more damage than anything he would have testified to…and keeping him out there pleading the 5th keeps the rumors and whisper stories running.

In yet another situation where the Republicans are looking for a scapegoat at any cost, this guy would be out of his mind to testify. If he did, his lawyer should be excommunicated, deported, and shot at sunrise. If they want to hear from him, they can offer him 100% unqualified immunity.

It won’t even end then. The smear campaigns against the Clinton’s won’t stop until they are dead and buried for a good 50 years. And that probably includes Chelsea as well.
Yes…but the way in which they are responding is horribly weak. An anonymous source within the campaign? Hillary herself needs to speak out on this immediately. Letting this grow legs through the weekend is going to be a disaster. I can hear Todd already giggling like a demented child in preparation for MTP.

Agreed, pleading the 5th is worst case. It inherently admits a potential crime.
However if they can get him to say HRC asked him to do anything involved with the install, they tie a “crime” to her.

It always amazes me how at the first sign of trouble, liberals/Democrats start with the hand-wringing. The first thing Republicans do is circle the wagons and start punching back, hard. Get a grip people. This is just another phony scandale that the right wing manufactured in order to bring down HRC’s polling numbers, which it has done to some extent. They clearly don’t have anything actionable, so all they can do is try to keep their fishing expedition alive for political advantage. But they are clearly running out of ammo at this point.

HRC, was a fine senator, a fine SoS, and would likely be a fine president.
But the campaigning skills are not great. She comes off as tone deaf, or at least easily portrayed that way.
She could still win, but the tone deaf issue will hurt her effectiveness as president.

you are on the money. if there was no benghazi or email outcry, they would gin something else up. the karl/rove weasel brigade has been geared up since 2009 when she became the next logical nominee. fox has been running multiple hillary bashes every day for years. they can’t win talking issues, so 1st default strategy is outrage/smear. disgusting way to run a political party.

Uh, no, it does not admit anything except that the individual refuses to answer the questions.
Our legal system is founded on the concept of innocent until proven guilty, and refusing to answer questions—an individual right for each and every American----admits nothing.

But our political system isn’t. And this isn’t being played out in front of a judge, its being played out in front of the electorate, which has been primed for months to believe that she is untrustworthy.
