Discussion: Clinton Blasts Trump: He's Taking GOP From 'Morning In America' To Midnight

I think she actually covered a great deal of policy in her speech. Definitely outside the norm for what an acceptance speech usually holds. She talked about universal healthcare, paid family leave, infrastructure and job creation bill in first 100 days, gun control, refuting TPP, Citizens United (either overturning or constitutional amendment), a strategy for dealing with ISIL, and a lot more.

I would actually refute Nicole Wallace on that point. She called John McCain a patriot that deserves our respect. Trump still hasn’t apologized for saying he was a loser for getting captured.

But then again, if I were a betting man, my bet would be that Wallace ends up either voting for Hillary or not voting at all again. And I am leaning to, she votes for Hillary and just doesn’t tell anyone.

She was very very good on policy goals, but light on specifics of procedure aND mechanics…which, btw, I think is fine in context. I just think it’s important to push for their speeches to have more HOW in them.

Not for Hillary. One of the things she gets beat up the most about lately is that she isn’t strong on giving speeches, and prefers to talk about and DO actual policy. Diving deep into wonkishness during an acceptance speech would have been a horrible choice.

Keep in mind, Trump did not speak about a single policy issue in his speech. Hillary listed off dozens. He doesn’t have a single white paper up on his website…hers has tons. I’ve never spoken to anyone who says Hillary is too light on policy, even those that don’t agree with her. The criticism is usually the other way…Hillary is TOO heavy on policy.

Overall, I think she did a fantastic job, and bravo to the everyone who put on an incredible four day convention.

I liked the section on her personal history best. You could see her real passion about children’s welfare issues. Also, the examples she gave about details mattering were spot on.
For Trump, there are no details, except for the shade of golds he uses in his tacky residences. For Hillary, life is a book full of details, some wonderful, some awful, but all of them mattering.

That would be why I mentioned context making it fine and in a previous post mentioned that it’s a thing for me personally. Relax man…we had it out but there’s no grudge here. We on the same team.

Lock her up (For 8 years in the White House)!

Or a man… called Hawk.

Avery Brooks could’ve rocked the hell outta that suit (he often wears white at conventions, too).

Best comment I’ve read on Hillary’s outfit tonight:

Clinton’s white garb reflects her transformation into an even more
powerful wizard, a la Gandalf.

During this convention we took back patriotism and faith, reminding everyone that they do NOT mean jingoism and bigotry. Quite an incredible feat

More like 4-0. We crushed then every single night. Many of their own pundits said so. We hung then with their own words, and we co-opted some of their own language.

Total rout.

Watched on MSNBC here on West Coat. The default poetry vs prose those blather yammering heads got into made me want to throw something at the TV. What f-ing speech did they watch? The sight of flag waving patriotic enthusiastic American liberals must have gotten cluster f-ed in their heads with the Hilary is so unpopular meme that they just could not process the moment- lookin’ at you Tweety and Chucky… And Nicole Wallace was trolely and pathetic. She was correct. BHO cleaved Orange Hitler from all decency, hope and conservatism itself, but HRC kicked ass right on through that trash.
And I just love love loved the mournful mewlings of the Cons with their ā€œoh shit, they;re stealing all our best stuffā€. No you ConTards. Your Hate Porn media troglodytes gave it to us, Gave. It. To. Us.
Best part: Been waiting so long for Left wing America to stand up with the Constitution in one hand and greater, nobler parts of our history in the other and say; " We can do this. Because we’ve done it before. We know what is looks like and and can still do it. That can do Americanism is who we are and it’s well worth preserving. Because, you see, we are the conservatives. The real conservatives. The real American patriots".
Super best part, HRC seemed 100% in charge. Smart. Strong. In command. And 1000% Presidential.
Will feel so proud when I see her deliver a State of the Union speech. 1000% Presidential.

His supporters Love Trump’s hate…but it is (and has been) my opinion that ā€œthe better angels of our natureā€ will ā€œtrumpā€ his bigotry and hatred. Vote Blue!

Joining a party is merely a way to say these people by and large share my values. It does not bind you to always choose the party’s candidate.

Not just the names we know, too. That parade of lesser known mayors of small towns, NYC detectives who love HRC for her help for NYC after 9/11, the ā€œlittle peopleā€ who came forward to tell us all for the first time about the help she had given them, real help were beautiful to watch. And believe me, one of her great lines was, ā€œI’ve spent my life in public service. The service part is somewhat known, but I’ve never done much with the public part.ā€ (or words to that effect)

The parade of family photos of her with the people she materially helped were the very opposite of photo ops…

Far and away, the best speech of the convention. She was confident, poised and clearly showed the world that she belonged on that stage. Without relying on Obama she pointed her own way to the future for the USA by showing the new parry platform to be as American as apple pie: ā€œwe wrote it together, let’s do it togetherā€

Pshaw. The Dems have a point, the Cons do not. It wasn’t 4-0 or 99 Bajillion to zero. It wasn’t even 1-0. It was a joke I made. There was no scoring system involved.

C-SPAN is preferable to MSNBC: no commercials, no Brian Williams, no half baked bullshit.

That’s true! Ian McKellan could’ve pulled off that look. Especially with either a fedora (not a @#%!ing trilby) or a panama hat.

And now I feel terribly ashamed. You know who we forgot who could totally pull off the white suit? Ricardo Montalban.
