I think this may be the first basketball game I’ve watched from whistle to whistle. It was an amazing game, and I’m happy for the people of Cleveland.
Absolute thriller of a series. Plus the cores of both teams should remain intact providing at least a couple more finals matchups; this may bloom into an all-time rivalry, phyical dunking versus finesse shooting.
Also if NBA seems like nothing more than preening millionaires griping over whistles (like it does to many of my friends) I’d suggest watching wingman JR Smith’s segment of the postgame presser where he reflects on working at his dad’s construction business. Really nice father’s day moment.
Sometimes fans try to get under the skin of a player. Lebron was not playing at a high level early in the series. But then the fans in Game 5 put out the “crybaby” posters. That might have added to Lebron’s fervor in the last 3 games. He is a guy who did wake up, and did come through. Good job, Cavs.
The only other issue is Kevin Love. If that guy was concussed in Game 4, he was NOT recovered. Whoever cleared him needs to ask more questions. Love was not himself. He almost gave the game away by taking 2 unsuccessful shots in Game 7.
