Discussion: Cleric Targeted In Flynn’s Dealings Gets Arrest Warrant Over Russia Envoy Murder

I look at the poisoning in the UK as a clear and direct warning shot aimed at Manafort and Cheetolini. Basically, Putin and the GRU will find you and assassinate anyone who betrays Vlad and the Oligarchs.

Josh had it pegged in the EdBlog that Manafort might have more to fear than Jail-time, but I bet this includes PP too.

My two cents.

The connection all the stories on the TPM front page about the purging of career staff from government agencies and this story about Gulen is this: Erdogan has had years to bend the state apparatus to his will, while we are just seeing the beginning of a similar gambit by Trump.

Would it be stretching a point to call these “Trumped-up Charges”?

It takes years if someone wants to dismantle a government that is already in place.

He doesn’t have years. At most he has less than 2 left.

Trump will claim the assassin was a Hillary associate and demand her arrest.

I saw Flynn in the headline, but not in the story. I’m not as steeped in the lore as other folks here - any chance we can get a story update that explains the Flynn connection?

The Gulen schools (there are a large number, at one point more than 100) use the charter school mechanism and the H-1B visa to extract millions, if not billions, from US taxpayers to fund a lavish lifestyle for this cleric in PA and to fund terrorism in Turkey. He brings in teachers from Turkey on H-1Bs, even English teachers. He forces them to kick back part of their salaries to him. In turn, he uses the money to fund his lifestyle, and to fund insurrection in Turkey. It’s a total abuse of the H-1B system, and the charter school system. It happens because charters do not have to disclose their books. He should be deported for all kinds of meddling in the affairs of Turkey.

I am not the only one increasingly concerned that this guy is using a US base to foment insurrection in Turkey, funded substantially by US taxpayers. This is widely reported. If you don’t know about Gulen schools, you should learn about them. Reports for the last 10 years are increasingly concerned about this bunch of thieves and criminals.

…and who is the biggest backer of Charter Schools? Betsy DeVos.
The world would be a better place though if Recep Tayyip Erdogan would just drop dead

Do not forget that Arne Duncan and Obama were firm backers of charters, also. In today’s WP, Duncan firmly defends them. This was a disaster, and Obama has a lot to answer for about charters.

I’m no backer of Erdogan. I don’t believe that meddling in the internal affairs of other states by the US government or by persons on US soil is to be encouraged, either. I mostly believe that US school funds should be used for education of US kids by US educators, not stolen from school systems by foreign provocateurs and foreign workers.

Yes, but not to the detriment of the public schools. DeVos has actively tried to divert funds for that purpose. She is another one who could drop dead tomorrow (of natural causes) and the world would be better for it

Charters are PSINOs (public schools in name only). There are many who do not open their books, who do not follow BOE rules about curriculum, teacher certification, etc. When Obama and Duncan came out in favor them, it was a black day for ACTUAL, REAL public schools (run by the elected BOE).

In some cases, the charters are “vampire” schools, sucking huge parts of the public dollars to fund their schools.

“Brighton High School senior Christopher Gayle left school, too, but he went into the building to testify. Gayle told state lawmakers that he had nothing against charter schools, but he blamed them for the cuts. “They’re taking away money from the Boston Public Schools,” Gayle said.”

Charters should NOT be supported by anyone who supports public schools. They are a toxic mess.

If I recall from details related to his plea deal, Flynn was overheard discussing a plot to extra-judiciously extradite the cleric Gulen from the US (where he’s been living legally since 1999) to Turkey to face charges related to the coup attempt. This was something that Flynn would have been involved in while acting as NSC to the president.

WWPD?

(What would Putin do?)

Many Charters are also “for profit” entities. That goes to the #1 rule of capitalism. Profit is the only goal…anything that gets you there is secondary.

And, it was reported, he (Flynn) would be paid for the kidnapping to the tune of several millions of dollars.

This is erdogan trumped up charges against Gulen…he has had a hit out on him since first electec…He had jailed thousands of academics and professors…Killed a few…Now he sees dotard as weak and easily manipulated sees another opening…

Don the Con is too coorup and stupid to admit that Russia, Turkey, and Egypt are now shithole countries, just like what he would like to do to our country.
