Forced medication is not just child abuse, it is a form of torture.
“…subjecting the children to forced medication without their parents’ consent…”
I’m just waiting for the first reports of forced sterilizations to trickle out of Trumplinka.
And if you think this fear is over the top, just stop and recall what else you thought was over the top…
Until these brown-hating-lunatics-with-power actually went and did it.
I never considered myself to be a paranoid individual, but I no longer regard anything as “over the top” in terms of possible cruel or bigoted behavior from the Trump administration.
And, Trump would somehow try to tie it into being pro-life - an argument which 90% of his base would accept. We are truly living in an alternate universe.
The big question is: will swing vote John Roberts decide to throw this case out?
I think that this is part of a plan for establishing an american military empire in latin america. (Good luck with that – I didn’t say it was a good plan.) But in the trump/sessions scenario, many of these kids are going to be sent back to their birth countries, and they’re going to grow up, and woe betide the yankee who crosses their path. And then we’ll just have to send the marines.
Perversion runs deep and wide in this administration, along with incompetence.
This whole approach was talked about in the WH over a year ago.
This separating children from their parent(s) was suppose to be a deterret. How is not announcing that this is the new policy a deterrent when all you’ve done is lock up parent(s), kids, don’t have a system in place to keep track of each group, and haven’t dealt with the how you are going to deal with the passel of unaccompanied minors from the previous administration?
Who’s bright idea was it to make torture of refugees and asylum seekers the new normal?
There should be no legal impunity for this maladministration.
Eh, there was no difference between the candidates.
(Why no, I am not going to stop banging on that drum, thank you very much.)
We all need to use the words “child endangerment” when possible, it really is a legal issue with teeth.
Every time I drive through an Iowa or Kansas ghost town, it becomes ever more apparent there’s some sort of fundamental disconnect in the conservative creed.
From one corner of their mouth, they blame abortion for their population drain, with the other corner they curse immigration.
If they didn’t ban abortion or create all the other social-nazi laws, maybe the young folks wouldn’t be running off to the states that are tolerant and progressive.
And if they didn’t summarily reject the infusion of new Americans from immigration, it might have the same effect. I am certain beyond any doubt, most of the young families trapped and separated at the border would have assimilated gracefully, if given the chance, and that could alone help reverse this rural-death-spiral.
Both would be even better.
Republicans could have saved their party from its inevitable disempowerment.
They might well have had a built-in future base of Catholic conservatives if they’d been smarter, one that they will never be able to tap now because they have vilified them both by race and language.
If only they weren’t brown…
I still blame FOX.
That’s Irish, IIRC?
The number of US residents claiming Irish ancestry in 2012 was 34.1 million, seven times the population of Ireland.
Yes, but they’ll claim it even it’s a single fourth generation grandparent. For some reason, it’s fashionable to claim Irish ancestry today.
Republicans have always been opposed to drugs… Unless they are used to keep brown people “docile”.
And religion.
If you care to check out something called Catholic Social Teaching (which goes back to the 1870s, it seems to be in opposition to certain favored causes of both Republicans and Democrats, with the Republicans catching most (90%?) of the opprobrium.
(But I may be prejudiced. My parish is 70% Mexican* and our priest is from Ghana.)
*And, don’t call them “Hispanic”, because they will – quickly – let you know they are Mexican and Proud. Many families were here before the United States got out this way, some before there even was a United States. — “I didn’t cross the border, the border crossed me,”
That sounds wonderfully refreshing.
Read this today, too.
They’re a fruitful bunch aren’t they?
They are certainly blessed with their fair share of the FOXP2 gene.
Poets, one and all.
Jesus Christ!! Has Mengele been reincarnated!? There are so many parallels to Nazi Germany during this clusterfuck it’s mind boggling! And the one Nazi practice they could have followed that could be of help reuniting families is tattooing and record keeping. I think they figured we don’t need records, we’ll just deport everybody! (please don’t think I am for tattooing anybody against their will or deporting asylum seekers.) This bullshit is on Trump, not me.
