Discussion: Clarence Thomas Speaks Up At SCOTUS Arguments For First Time In 3 Years

Hair of the “dog” that bit him? Know why pubic hair is curly? So it doesn’t poke your eye out…ha ha ha, ahum, sorry!

If he’s asking that question seriously, he has cognitive problems.

So it’s not true that he lost the power of speech?

The case involves a black Mississippi death row inmate who’s been tried six times for murder and a white prosecutor with a history of using jury strikes to exclude African-Americans.

Thomas wanted to know if the lawyer for inmate Curtis Flowers had made the same kind of decisions and if so, the race of struck jurors.

This is a poor argument. Considering that the jury pool is predominantly white, each African-American struck from the jury is proportionately more significant to the ultimate makeup of the jury than a White member struck. That’s how you end up with almost all white juries.

Thomas would have us believe the State and the defendant have equal footing, which is a ridiculous argument. The State wields considerably more power and money compared to largely poor defendants.

He wanted us to know he is still alive.

No. He thinks it’s still 1948.

I suspect that depends on what the definition of alive is.

Ol’ Clarence is but a joke and a curse. Part of which is that he likes presenting himself as sanctimonious and important. Worse than useless. All we can do is wait for him to get Alzheimer’s or something.

The man is in Way over his head.
Always has been.

Actually, he sneezed and said “Excuse me.”

And the lawyer just happened to know off the top of his head that the dismissed jurors in the 6th trial were all white?

Oh. Is it that time again? Some species have different breeding cycles.

If the prosecutor had already dismissed all the black potential jurors, who else could the defense lawyer excuse?

Should have just phoned it in… as usual.

he has filled a seat and had a vote for that reason has been of consequence. (Citizen’s United)

further anyone of sound mind knew Anita Hill told the truth and his appointment discredited the court and the rule of law. that said one could not have imagined decades later K. ascendance on lies. A further erosion of both.

Oh gee, the stupidest man on the court speaks? I do not give two craps. He and his ugly rotten wife should die and burn in hell already.

Thomas is a considerable waste of space on the Court. Only a Republican admin. could find a black jurist who hates his own race to put on the Supreme Court.

and all he could come up with was stupid.

Are Virginians not Southerners? Why is Clarence Thomas deemed the only Southerner on the Court? Kavanaugh is a Southerner.

Also, the fact that the Petitioner’s defense lawyer objected to 3 white jurors is not in itself a relevant question for Clarence Thomas to be asking in a case about juror strike discrimination. He is such an intellectually dishonest judge. He had no business being on the Court of Appeals or being nominated to the US Supreme Court. Especially to fill the seat immediately previously held by one of the geniuses and legal titans in this Country’s history.
