Discussion: Citing Kim Davis, AL Judge Asks For Protection To Not Issue Gay Marriage Licenses

Discussion for article #240668

Hinton told AL.com that the Supreme Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage “effectively criminalizes” officials who [commit crimes].

Seriously, do the job you swore an oath to do, otherwise you piss off the public and the god you say you follow.

It’s not the ruling that makes their actions illegal … it’s their actions. And this man claims to be a judge?

He should be fired for falsely representing he’s old enough to grow a mustache

As a probate judge, I wonder if the judge allows a divorced person to leave their estate to their second spouse?

They can’t even get their legal filings in order … nowhere in the Consitution of the United States does it give a definition of marriage as stated in the filing. But then what do you expect from people that don’t even read their own literature (The BIble) correctly? And I am making reference to their continued spewing forth of all the horrible things that Jesus said about same sex marriage, and conveniently ignoring what he actually did say.

‘judges’ that try to make this sorta claim should be just kicked to the curb and out of office… trying to file a petition like this is prima facie evidence of unfitness to administer law in ANY capacity

“The jailing of Kentucky clerk Kimberly B. Davis put at immediate risk the liberty interest of all faithful and religiously sincere public officials in Alabama whose office has responsibility for making decisions as to whether to give sanction and honor to homosexual relationships to include the issuance of a license to engage in sodomy,”

To begin, the issuance of a marriage license does not give honor and sanction to “sodomy” as Judge Williams claims. It merely certifies that the two people applying for the license meet the legal requirements to enter into a civil contract of marriage. Further, like it or not, it is the law of the land that two people of the same sex are now legally entitled to enter into such a contract. The Judge need not give sanction nor honor the marriage, he need only issue the license.

Judge Williams, Kim Davis and a few others are using their religious beliefs to have a hissy-fit over a Supreme Court decision they do not like. They need to grow up, do their jobs, and feel confident that if need be, their god will forgive them.

Choice bit from our collective media brainwashing in the 1970s:

*“The most important person in the whole wide world is you, and you hardly even know you. The most important person in the whole wide world is you, come on we’ll show you. It’s all about the things you feel and do, because you’re the most important person in the world to you!”

I know there’s a law against it, but my deeply held religious beliefs say I’m entitled to all the cash in any bank I enter.

I’m just not seeing where his fitness to serve in a judicial capacity is supported. I would think that a bit of legal training would be in order? Maybe he read Probate for Dummies after church one Sunday?

Not in Alabama, there are just county residency requirements and an election. I don’t even know how to explain the absurdity of this…

You don’t need a marriage license to engage in sodomy. In fact, statues prohibiting sodomy between consenting homosexual adults-married or otherwise-are unconstitutional (see, Lawrence v. Texas).
