I’m impressed.
That’s the longest string of tweets I’ve read at TPM without an insult to somebody’s wife or a retweet from a white nationalist group.

You can’t un-ring a bell.
Why do I see something like this, but with Geraldo breaking in and finding the tomb empty?
HAH!! =)
I totally disagree. To each its own, but is it wrong for countries to celebrate their victorious battles? Do you dump on WW2 battle memorials too? For some of us, it is a precious victory to be savored.
It was Obama’s personal initiative. He pulled aside CIA director when he was inaugurated, and told him we seemed to have lost the way on this, were not doing enough. So he wanted better focus on it. If there was anything more that could be done, Obama wanted it done. Then Obama followed it in writing.
In the actual planning, it was Obama who got the added helicopters put in the plan, the Chinooks. And one of them was needed! So overall this is HIS victory in many ways. Love that President!
Again, to me, it’s a celebration. And certainly no apologies.
I glean that it was not a kill only mission, but pretty close. If Bin Laden had made a big show of surrendering, he would not have been killed.
He was obviously not doing that, and him running around and thinking about what to do was more than enough provocation to get himself blasted.
When I was a reporter we were taught that you didn’t leave questions, and it was before The Google but you certainly didn’t send your readers off to a different source to figure out what you were talking about. My comment was more about the process and presentation of the story than Kerry’s speech.
That said, thanks for looking. I appreciate that you did it and that you gave me the link.
Every TPM article comes with a free “caption this photo” contest.
There is no judging or organized reader voting, though, and the prize is usually 0 to a handful of likes.
Brain exercise like this is what helps us avoid the damage that would otherwise result from the exposure to right-wing speech and activities we get from the TPM coverage.
I thinking using stock AP photos happens here a lot, which accounts for the disconnect we often see between stories and the image.
