“I meant I attend there once a month to get a rent check”…
Everything else he says is fabricated, so why not this too?
“Church Trump Claims To Attend Says He’s Not An Active Member.”
They should thank their G-d to be clear of him:
“When Nazareth sends its people, they’re not sending their best. Jesus was a terrible negotiator! I could’ve gotten that cup to pass! I like saviors that weren’t crucified, OK? And the Pope – you’re fired!”
This is SO unfair. Look, he KNOWS the place - he remembers the name, his limo driver’s familiar enough with it that he could take Trump there, and Trumps’ BEEN there - even the folks who run the business there REMEMBER him being there. And why not, really?
Compared to every other church, denomination, franchise, whatever the hell you call it, Trump is BRANDED at that particular one. Did you happen to listen to what that man said? He said - and this is just as valuable as a direct quote - Trump actually PATRONIZES this one. And that makes him a church patron, am I right? That’s what the word means: he’s been there, he’s spent time there, he’s given them his patronage, which is money OR even more valuable than money: Trump’s chosen to lend his name to this particular enterprise. And that means something - there’s real meaning there.
And by the way: have YOU actually read the Bible? Right thru? Have you? It’s a long book, and there’s a lot things in there. Now I’m gonna ask YOU a question: if you go and pick out a few nuggets from a gold mine, does that represent the entire value of that asset? Does it, really? No, of course it doesn’t. It’d be sillly to try and reduce something that big, that fabulous, to a few catch phrases. It’s a silly question, and insulting.
There are no atheists in Fox [News] holes.
“Did you see that crucifixion? That Jesus guy was bleeding from his hands, bleeding from his feet, bleeding from his wherever…”
My ex-wife was a minister at one of the other Collegiate churches in the early 90’s, and it was mentioned he was a member, probably the biggest name in them. But with his only on holidays admission, that would not make him an “active” member, plus how long has it been since he went or wrote a check, that works too.
BTW - RCA is the Dutch flavor of Presbyterian, basically the same thing, they share ministers ant seminaries all over. They have a buttload of churches in Iowa, so his not using that shows how familiar he is with his church.
Its better to be a liar and a cheat and fraud and pay lip service to being a Christian, even a lapsed Christian, than to be an atheist. He’ll come out as some flavor of “very spiritual” and it will be enough. I’m in my mid-forties and I will never see an Atheist in high office.
Related, my teabaggin inlaws who LOATHED Trump a few weeks ago and threatened to not vote at all this cycle if he is the nominee, are now starting to come around. They still don’t like HIM, but they find that they agree with most of his policies. Shocker, right? They agree with all one of them.
Sheesh!
The right wing claim to be Christian, but they’re empirically not. As long as you’re a member of the tribe in good-standing, all will be forgiven. Adultery, drug use, multiple divorces, racism? No problem! I guarantee this little foible of Trump not going to church will not be an issue for the base. It only matters if you’re a Democrat or non-white.
Exactly.
Claiming to be a follower of the Jesus is a perpetually renewable get out of jail card.
His answer to “Old or New Testament” – “Uh, probably…equal” – is so ridiculous. His knowledge of the Bible is restricted to watching movies, and not even the good ones with Mr. “cold, dead hands”, but the new crap like the one with Batman.
Unfortunately true. For POTUS, the barriers will fall something like this:
not white- woman
- gay
- all three
… - Muslim
… - atheist
Woops this was supposed to be a reply.
Reformed Church in America is Presbyterian.
Reminds me of one of my favorite gospel songs—“Jesus Dropped the Charges.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fj4LBCPzMY
My fave:
He’s already come out in favor of Jesus crackers
“When I drink my little wine — which is about the only wine I drink — and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed,” he said. “I think in terms of ‘let’s go on and let’s make it right.’”
Trump is his own religion, and every building he erects is a shrine to him.
